RUDE
BOYS
SINGLE
CD

- Reference number:
Head
- 1999 American?
release
- Compilation of tracks from
video sources, 1977-1983
- Venues: Various (see
below)
- Sound Rating: 7-9
- Variations: This is the only CD version
known to me. It is a compilation of tracks from various video sources, and
like the previous Head release Trick Or Treat (CD),
most are available in better sound quality. Also like Trick Or Treat, this
is a CD-R release, but as it has high quality professional printing and wide
distribution it is included on this page. Tracks 1-2 are two of four songs
from the "Elisabethan Suite" TV broadcast, from Manchester. Tracks 3-13 are
lifted straight from the Rude Boy video soundtrack, and are available in much
better quality on the promo soundtrack casstette (and some on From Here to
Eternity). "Garageland" and "Stay Free" fade in or out where dialogue interupts
the film, and thus are partial. 4-30-78 is the Victoria Park rally, 7-4-78
is the Glasgow Apollo, 7-27-78 is the London Music Machine, 12-28-78 is the
London Lyceum [see Sort It Out (LP or CD)
and USA 1979 (CD)], "Police and Thieves" is from
Birmingham and "Tommy Gun" from Dumfermline. Look here
for more Rude Boy soundtrack information. 4-25-80 is from the US TV debut
on the "Fridays" show. 6-5-81 is from the "Tomorrow Show" on US TV, and "The
Magnificent Seven" was included on Pier Pressure (CD).
5-28-83 is the US Festival II, and the complete show is better in much better
sound on Clash Calling (CD). The final two
tracks are lifted from a 4-26-77 promotional video. Only the 6-5-81 songs
are in the sound quality that they should be. How about no more below avergage
comp CDs? Rude Boy - The Outtakes (LP) is a
later release taken directly from the Rude Boy soundtrack promo cassette,
and has better sounding versions of the Rude Boy material.
