This is a relay type game. I say 2 - 3 because it depends on whether you have 2 - 3 teams. At the end, it makes the girls think about which water is drinkable.
Supplies needed:
2 - 3 Buckets 2 - 3 Small containers (such as film canister) 2 - 3 Clear containers (such as mason jar, glass jar) 1 drop of bleach 1 drop of vinegar 1 drop of food colouring
Place one drop of bleach, vinegar or food colouring in each of the clear containers before the girls arrive.
Fill up the buckets with clear water.
Game Play
Have the girls line up in relay fashion behind the buckets. Each team is given one small container.
To play: The girls fill up their small container from the bucket and race to fill up their clear container. Winners are team who has the most water in their clear container after all players have gone once or twice.
At the end of the game, ask the girls which clear container they would not drink from. I used red food colouring, so of course they choose not to drink that one. Then I had them smell the clear ones. Now they changed their minds. After explaining to them what was in each container, they realized that they could drink from any of them.
(Of course one drop of bleach in such a small container is not good to drink, but it helped explained about water purification.) |
