The Beast, aka "White Trash". Dig those wheels!

There were tons of cool cars running, and it was almost as fun scoping them out as it was to run on the track! "Vette, Bimmer... waitaminute what the heck is THAT?" That BMW is a 540i, and it would blow past me like I was parked!

Like a said, tons of cool cars. New Beetle 1.8t, S2000, Cobra replica... The owner of the New Beetle (and I forgot his name, I'm awful with names) was incredibly cool and gave me tons of advice, rookie that I am.

Dig the 'bar on the S2000! Also a sweet vintage-racer 911, a mean SE-R, and that red thing again, which turns out to be a '99 Lotus Esprit V8. (drool)

This was the second "novice" run... we waited forever to run, because someone in a 911 Turbo rolled right before the Carousel. I didn't have an opportunity to take pics of it, but it was nasty - all crumpled, glass broken, one wheel hanging off. Here we have a nice newer Prelude (apparently soon to be a supercharged Prelude), a couple 911's (a flat-nose ahead of me, and a Turbo behind/next to me), and Chris's GTI. When we eventually ran, I was actually hanging on the first 911's tail. On the first run I was behind the GTI. GTIs are fun to watch get up on three wheels!

While waiting for them to clean up the mess left by the flipped 911, there was the usual bench racing and BS'ing amongst all the car guys. Then I found something out - this is not a replica - it is an actual 427 Cobra that was raced and put away. No trailer queen either - the owner was WAILING on the thing! Oh, to have made it big as a dot-com...

The pace vehicle for the second novice run. Some trucks haul hay bales, some just haul the kids, this one hauls ASS. He was behind me on the first novice run, and saw first-hand when I discovered the joy of RX-7 Watts linkage bind. He said I recovered rather well, but after exiting the track at 60-70mph I was just happy to not be the first person to roll!

A glimpse at what would be passing me within a couple laps.

In the afternoon there were no more separate runs, it was go out when you want and come in when you want. Let's see, C4, Esprit V8, Viper GTS, C5... I think I'll stay off the track a lil' while. :-) Yes, that is a Benz 300E up there, and yes the owner was wailing on it. He had A032R's on it, and he was taking every corner with grand four-wheel drifts and impressive amounts of body roll. Leather interior, CD changer, the works. Yeah!

I've never seen the engine bay of an Esprit, either. All you can see is most of the top of the intake manifold. I wonder if his amp gets cooked?

These are street tires. This is a race track. This is street tires abused on a race track. Any questions?

Nelson Ledges Road Course Check it out!
Racer Wholesale. Get yourself a helmet and come on out and have some fun! The Fundayz has got to be the best bang-for-the-buck track time deal out there. The track is fairly light on brakes, easy to drive (I was only shifting twice per lap, but then again my car's slow), and has a ton of runoff so it's not like you're going to nail a wall if you leave the track.
The Tire Rack Get some decent DOT-R tires, too. Trust me!
