How will you spend $1,000,000 ?????
In this activity you will spend one million dollars in imaginary money,
but you will have to do REAL shopping and REAL record keeping of every
penny spent.
There are a few rules:
Each item must be less that $175,000.
You will purchase only one of each item.
You must spend ALL the money, but not more than $1,000,000
You will shop on the Internet using on-line catalogues as your pricing
guides.
You will record your purchases on a spreadsheet that you will create in Excel.
You will need to do some research to find all the catalogues you need.
You may check auction prices but you may NOT bid. You will record the
most recent, highest bid as your purchase price on your spreadsheet, but
you may not have more than 25% of your prices from on-line auctions.
On your spreadsheet you will have columns for:
Date of purchase
Thumbnail (small picture of the item)
Item Description
Item price
Vendor or Catalogue of seller
On your spreadsheet you will have rows for:
Your name
$1,000,000 (your beginning balance)
Each item
A formula at the bottom to indicate the amount of money left to spend.
You will not be permitted to spend any money on the following items:
Services, stocks, bonds, businesses, animals, and commodities.
Anything associated with drug, tobacco, or alcohol use
Anything associated with violence, gangs, or terrorist groups
Anything of an adult nature
Anything illegal
Anything NOT for sale, such as people, planets, or institutions
