Green Ford Popular
It came in '64 and changed our lives forever. Long jouneys in the mist and day trips to the sea. Hours outside remote Garda Stations waiting for the trip home, never bored but always looking out for movement.  Displaced by a quiz prize it retired to oblivion in the back of Eglington Street. I will remember it always.
Alas Dear Rooney, those times are gone. Replaced by the ratrace despite best efforts and proud statements to avoid.  Trimuph 20's, pipe bombs and Harp Lager delayed it for a while. And proud sentements, it a bit longer. But that is over and we struggle on - defeated, searching for the past.
Childhood memories last a lifetime although granularity increases and timbres change with passing years. Old favourites survive in the strangest ways: passwords, pincodes, cliches and  nicknames to name but a few.
Tinkering kept us busy but the staying power was not there. All fallen by the wayside with snippets emerging now and then. Pennies wasted, later pounds and yet still the Euro. Realism will never creep in.
And then the future.
