BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ARTWORK:
The people of the southern region of Nigeria
(predominantly Christians) have voiced out there concern about the spread
of Sharia, or Islamic laws, in the northern part of Nigeria, and its implication
for Christian southerners living in the northern region of Nigeria. They argue
that if the northern region should introduce Sharia laws in the region, then
the safety of the Christian southerners living in that region is not guaranteed.
This controversy is leading to loss of thousands of lives and the destruction
of properties worth millions of Naira, due to regular clashes between these
religious groups. Come to think of it, Muslims and Christians worship one
super-natural being (God), then one might ask, why are the tensions, killings,
destruction of properties and other controversies all tied to religious beliefs?
We all must stop these senseless killings and live as one in peace, under
the eyes of God.
