I am like the roses;
I do not belong.
Fighting to survive,
To stay alive, I must be strong
All my lives, beginning when I was born --
Because Sinew roses need their thorns.
I am like the roses;
Brought here by mistake,
Not supposed to be here.
All you see here, I was forced to make.
All that I have made I mean to keep.
I am the Sinew rose, rooted deep.
Sinew roses,
Hardy as a weed.
Handle me respectfully or else I'll make you bleed.
I was meant for gardens, behind stone walls to stay --
But sometimes, garden roses grow away.
I am like the roses.
I am forced to grow.
Homesoil here was never sweet,
But no defeat can make me go.
I am no one's fool and no one's pawn.
I am the Sinew rose, growing on.
