In 2001 I was published in Surviving Ophelia, written by Cheryl Delasega, PHD. Published by Persius Publishing. Look for Chapter 15 titled Family Story. I'm currently ghost writing for several travel magazines and obviously working on other projects. You will find current material for sale.
A Navy brat; I moved often, leaving me without very
many friends. That wouldn't be bad enough; I was a hellchild who found myself in many precarious situations. My mother tried to keep me busy with art, music and writing. Since I had a vivid imagination, writing came natural to me. Unfortunately, being a single parent, I didn't have the opportunity to concentrate on my writing full-time. Until........
I was diagnosed with FAP (Gardner's Syndrome) when I was six months pregnant. I decided that I just couldn't care for the baby so I placed her in an open adoption. She had to be delivered two months early. Both my children have this genetic disease. Turns out that I'm terminally ill as well. Because I wasn't diagnosed early, I have inoperable tumors. So I guess in a way my prayers have been answered. If I hadn't been terminally ill, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to write full time. I have to see some sort of positive ending to the situation. I'm dealing with the disease and choose to live my life as best as I can. I've already far exceeded my expiration date so I feel as though everyday is a blessing. My faith keeps me going, along with the help of my family. Brandy has started ninth grade, and McKenzie lives with a wonderful family in Florida. I can see her anytime I choose, so everything worked out for the best. Now I hope that my work will be published. My goal is to encourage others to never loose faith, to never give up.
I hope that this book will encourage others with terminal illness to never loose hope and faith. We all have special strengths and we need to concentrate on these traits, instead of getting wrapped up in day to day junk.
