| About Me | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My poor mother. Raising a child like me wasn't easy that's for sure. Just to get me to stay still and be quiet was an impossible chore, until she discovered that I had a crazy imagination. One day when I was driving her crazy with my way outlandish stories, she handed me a pencil and pointed to the paper and said, "Talk to the paper." I have been writing ever since. While other girls were playing with barbies I was painting, or writing. Never in a million years would I think that I could ever experience the luxury of writing for a living. I'm sorry but I like to eat and so does my daughter Brandy. My entire employment history was all about making other people money. I had two jobs and went to night school when Brandy was 2. In 2001 I started to feel 'under the weather'. It would go away and then months down the road I'd feel sluggish again. I really didn't think about it much. Unfortunately my bosses did because as the months progressed, my absences grew as well. I lost five very well paid jobs in that year alone. Finally I learned why I wasn't feeling up to par, I have a genetic disease called Gardner's Syndrome. It's when your colon is producing polyps. Some people get colon cancer, some die and some are just fine once they unload the colon.. On top of that, I'm six months pregnant to boot. I thought my life couldn't get any worse...well it can and it did for me! After I decided to place the baby in an open adoption, I learned that I have inoperable tumors. So I'm terminally ill, broke, no job, got evicted from the fourth house, and now what! You'll have to read my new book, Angels Working Overtime to find out. I do want to say that it's a very uplifting book reflecting on hope and courage. Like my Uncle always says, "Tomorrow is another day." Very true. In 2001 I finally was published in Surviving Ophelia. Cheryl Delasega PHD. wrote the book but Chapter Fifteen titled Family Story is written by little ol' me. It was a great experience and I thank Cheryl from the bottom of my heart. What's going on now: Brandy almost 17 and our gang of pets live in a suburb of Minneapolis. I make it a point of doing fun things with her everyday but just like her mother, Brandy loves music so we go to concerts every month. We just recently saw Korn and Green Day.It's important to build those memories regardless of your health. My book is done and now I feel as though I'm ready to jump back in and roll up the sleeves to start another project. Haven't decided what that is but I've been thinking about television.... I miss LA so I'll probably make a few trips out there (I was born and raised in Southern California). Brandy and I will be flying to LA after Christmas to see friends and family. I do feel pretty perky and frisky and that's a good thing...Thank you so much for reading. It means a lot to me. Have a blessed day! |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| For the past four years I've been struggling not only to live but to finish this book. I hope that it will help others who are terminally ill or who are just plain lost in life and need to regroup their faith. Life is too short to get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle. Have you ever watched the grass grow? You can't see them but you can hear the leaves rolling down the street...you know that sound. Well my experiences with the Lord is kind of like that. I can't see him but I know he's there, he exists and loves all of us so much.If my book helps only one person realize how special they are, then my job is done! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
