Families are usually the forgotten ones when a member of their family has been abused. People forget that they can go through the same traumas and guilt as the survivor themselves. They blame themselves and think what they could have done to prevent the abuse...
The answer is that they probably could have done nothing to prevent this, as offenders are conniving, cunning, sly, and devious and will go to any lengths to protect themselves...
Abusers show no remorse are completely unashamed and are unrepentant when eventually caught. Victims are conditioned by their abuser not to speak out, so that immediate family will be the last to know. Families will tear themselves apart looking for answers, we do not have the answers but what we can offer you is families to speak to who have gone through these situations and come out at the other end...
We will listen, we will offer support but we will not judge...
