Isnt Christianity just Blind Faith?

It is always curious to me how people can have faith in all kinds of things for very faulty reasons and yet when it comes to Christianity people assume that there is no reasonable explanation to claim that one has their Christian faith based on anything but valid evidence. Nothing could be farther from the truth, Christianity is a reasoned, reasonable and logical faith based on evidence.
A big part of this problem is based I believe on a very faulty philosophical expression by a Danish philosopher named Soren Kirkeggard who claimed that Abraham followed Gods call to a new land by blind faith, which in itself is a faulty assumption. Lets look at just some of the evidence that demonstrates the Christian faith is anything but blind.

1. There is History which is used in almost all disciplines to verify what is known and believe. The Bible is full of history that has been verified by archaeology, eye witnesses, and historical records. For example, much of what science says about evolution and how it was used to bring about the world we now have is contradicted in scripture. Much of that biblical difference is scientifically provable from scientific record. The problem with making such a statement is only in the fact that the presuppositions of secular science are different from those of creationists although we both look at exactly the same evidence. When one looks at the record from a creationists perspective, the whole creation account makes great sense and fits together much better than the evolutionary model.

2. There are records from archaeology that verify what the Bible said. When the city of Jericho was found, secular archaeologists said that the Biblical account was wrong. However upon closer examination, of the site, it was found to be just the opposite, the Bible was exactly correct in its historical account.
The life of David was once in question until archaeology found a clay tablet speaking of the House of David verifying that he was in fact a real person and one time ruler of Israel.
Noahs ark was considered to be a fable until early last century when in the mountains of Ararat, just where the Bible says it landed, the Ark was seen by Russian pilots, then by satellite, then by several different expeditionary trips to the area. Those who have been in it say it is laid out exactly as the Bible says it was built and has more than enough room for all the animals it was intended to hold.

3. Another area that verifies the Bible is the fulfillment of prophecy. More than 2000 prophetic statements can be found in scripture, over 200 of which were fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ alone. Those that have not been fulfilled are yet future, usually relating to the second coming of Christ. If all the prophetic statements about his first coming came true then it is reasonable to believe that those made about his second coming are also true.

4. Another area is really what the Christian faith is based on, the promises of God throughout the Bible. When understood correctly (in context) those promises have been tested numerous times by millions of people and found to be true time and time again. If they were not provable, certainly, God could be declared either a liar, or even nonexistent. But for those who have put their trust in him/Christ for salvation, have found his promises to be true consistently, thus verifying that he is real, active and trustworthy with all areas of our lives.

The Christian faith is and has been through the centuries one in which reason and evidence has always played an important role. Anyone wanting proof has only to put their trust in Christ and his sacrifice on the cross to find out for themselves. But therein lies the rub. God does ask us to place our faith in him to see his work in our lives. The proof of how He has worked before is out there, but to experience it personally takes a step of trust/faith in His Son Jesus Christ based on what we know he has done before.
