Rules and Regulations

When reading these rules, please keep in mind that the IWF reserves the right to enforce any of the following rules with whatever punishment seems appropriate.

CHARACTER CREATION

  • The IWF admits original characters only, and will not accept those which are based on actual individuals, either past or present. Also any Trademark actions, sayings, and/or finishing moves by real wrestlers are also not permitted to be used.

  • All characters begin their careers as amateurs. Once they have earned 4 victories under their belts, amateurs can opt to become a professional. During their stint as amateurs, characters may only challenge other amateurs, and once they become a professional, they may only challenge professionals.

  • Please use the application form provided for you on this web site to create your character. Strive to be as thorough as possible. In the process of, you will want to present as clear an image as you can of what type of character you are trying to portray. Please be aware that the IWF reserves the right to reject any application based upon how the character would fit within the federation, its rules, and/or its current roster.

  • Players are limited to a maximum of 3 characters each. Two of whom must form a tag team. Players are encouraged to form tag teams with their characters as an individual character can compete in both the singles and tag team divisions at the same time. Applications must be submitted for each character, however, and acceptance of one character does not always guarantee that the other's will be.

  • DETERMINATION OF MATCH OUTCOME

  • All outcomes in IWF matches are determined by the player controlling his/her character. Those whom post frequent, detailed messages on the Role Playing Board, send in precise and specific match forms, follow the federations rules, and have well written character descriptions will all be given a strict advantage over their opponent.

  • Rankings will be updated after each and every event. They are based on win/loss ratios. Those with a combination of more wins and fewer losses, will of course be given a higher rank. The ranking process is mathematical and not based on subjective opinion.

  • ROLEPLAYING

  • Role-playing is carried out over the Official IWF Message Board. Players are not permitted to use another player's character(s) in their role-playing message, unless they are quoting directly from a previous role-playing message. Players may cooperate with their role-playing and may produce combined role-play messages. This should be approved of ahead of time.

  • The IWF does not promote excessive profanity, or racial discrimination. I am not responsible for the consequences of those which post these remarks. Also, malicious attacks on staff members and/or officials will not be tolerated. Interviews and other forms of interaction are permitted, but violence against other IWF members is not. Players who violate these rules will be warned with subsequent offenses being punished by either suspensions or removal from the federation.

  • Interference in scheduled matches is carried out by submitting e-mail instructions as far in advance of the match as possible. Please provide specific instructions of what you intend to do. For example: I want to interfere in the Duke vs. Macho Al match by running down to ringside with a steel chair and attacking Duke and then running off into the crowd before the ref can see me. Interference will not guarantee a victory for either competitor, but it will simply be factored into the determination reached by the writer for the match.

  • CARDS AND BOOKING

  • The IWF will hold one non Pay-Per-View per week, entitled Friday Night Fever. The results of each card will be posted as soon as possible. You shouldn't have to wait for more than 3 days.

  • For each Friday Night Fever telecast, five to six (5-6) fights will be booked in any combination of singles or tag team matches. Pay-Per-View events may vary in the number of matches scheduled. Pay-Per-View events are usually held once every month on Sunday evenings and take the place of the normal weekly card. Cards with low numbers of matches scheduled may be cancelled do to the lack of participation involved.

  • For as much as possible, the booking of matches will be left up to the individual players. Role-playing is the preferred way to challenge opponents and set any stipulations they may wish to have for their matches. Matches must be approved of before they are scheduled. No character will ever be booked for a match against their player's will. Inactive characters may, however, be removed from the roster at the discretion of the IWF. All reasonable attempts will be made to contact players by e-mail before any inactive characters are removed.

  • The IWF follows standard wrestling regulations concerning match rules. Typical examples of the standard rules include:
    • choke holds must be broken within a five-count
    • tag teams have a five-count to keep both members in the ring
    • wrestlers have a ten-count to get back into the ring during a match
    • blatant use of illegal objects will lead to disqualification
    • pins must keep both shoulders on the mat for a three-count
    • pin attempts and holds must be broken if the opponent reaches the ropes
Players may specify special rules for individual matches but these must be approved in advance by the IWF. Note that ALL special stipulations must be publicly announced before a match will be scheduled.

The Pay-Per-View title defense counts towards the monthly requirement and there is no need to defend the title at any other event in the month other than the PPV. For non-PPV title defenses, the World Champion may select any opponent he wishes. However for PPV title defenses, the match must always be against the current & 1 contender. Of course, any IWF title holder may choose to defend their belts on any occasion above and beyond the minimums required.

  • All other belt holders must also defend their titles at least once a month. But Pay-Per-View fights are not necessary. Although they will count towards the monthly obligation. Pay-Per-View fights may be scheduled against anyone that you choose, it doesnt have to be necessarily the top contender.
