Pokemon – The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back

I have just been to see the Pokemon movie, and I have made a short review of it here, so that you can know to go and see it too! This will also be a short test of my HTML programming abilities, as this page is created exclusively with HTML.

This movie is absolutely fantastic, you have no excuse not to go and see it, so go there NOW!!!

God, I love this film. Everything about it is perfect. It begins with a 20 minute short presentation, called “Pikachu’s Vacation”. This is the most hilarious piece of Cinematography that I have ever seen. I almost died, DAMN YOU!! It is also very drugged up, and I could have sworn I was on acid. Man, the colours….
My rating (out of 5): 5 (surprise, surprise!!)

Then, came the film itself:

This is powerful, it is the future of mankind. Understand this film, and you will be a MASTER!!! *BUZZING SOUNDS AND MANIC LAUGHTER* Prepare yourself for Pokemon like you’ve never seen it before, cue death, destruction, hatred, evil, insanity, self-sacrifice, heroism, purity and enlightenment. This film is far beyond the comprehension of children, Goddammit, I couldn’t fully understand it myself!! It follows the story of Mewtwo, the most powerful Pokemon known to man. Genetically engineered by scientists, he goes mental, and kills them all! Cue our heroes, who go to stop Mewtwo, using their Pokemon to overcome this Pokemon/Pokemon trainer. But, (twist, turn) they CANNOT!!! Mewtwo is too powerful for Ash and co. and it looks like Mewtwo is about to take over the world, when the rarest and most powerful of all wild Pokemon makes an entrance to battle Mewtwo: MEW!!! *CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC* A titanic struggle ensues, and in the end, both Ash and Mewtwo discover the meaning of life, and explain it to the audience (but it went straight over my head), but not before Ash dies, and is resurrected.

Summary: A fantastic film, and an absolutely must see for everyone, even non-Pokemon fans! Don’t listen to the critics, they know squat. I am the only critic who is worthy, you will all listen to me!! Honestly, overcome your humiliation of going to the box-office and asking for a ticket for a movie designed for 9 year olds. It’s worth it!
My rating (out of 5): 27 (extra points for the explanation of all life and existence)

Plot Summary:

The story begins with Mewtwo remembering all the memories of Mew, the Pokemon he was cloned from. Realising these are not his memories, he uses his Psychic powers to smash open the glass container he is in. The scientists tell him how he was created, using Genetic Engineering, to make him even more powerful (allegedly) than Mew. This angers him, so he trashes the lab, and kills all the scientists, then totally Nukes the whole island (wow!). The Giovanni, Team Rocket’s boss arrives, and takes Mewtwo back to TR’s headquarters, to be trained in the art of defeating other Pokemon. But Mewtwo will not be Mastered by anyone, so he Nukes TR’s HQ also! He then becomes a Pokemon trainer, and invites other trainers to his island. This includes Ash and co. who decide to go. There is a great storm however, and with no ferry, the trainers must use their Pokemon to cross the dangerous waters.
Ash and co. don’t have suitable Pokemon to cross, so they make use of a boat belonging to some friendly local Vikings. However, these Vikings turn out to be TEAM ROCKET!! The boat capsizes, but the trio manage to get to the island, where only three other trainers having made it; the other trainers and their Pokemon having been killed in the storm (created by Mewtwo, incidentally). Mewtwo exposes himself (not like that) to the Trainers, who are angered that a Pokemon dares to train other Pokemon, and set their own Pokemon out to fight him. However, he is super-powerful, and defeats them all instantly. He then defeats all the trainers in a Pokemon battle.
As a reward for winning, Mewtwo takes all the trainers Pokemon, and clones them, but Ash leads them into battle, but loses to Mewtwo in a fist fight first. (ahh, they should have sent in Brock). Then, MEW arrives, and puts Mewtwo through a WALL!!, using his powers, and Mew and Mewtwo begin to fight each other, and the normal Pokemon battle their counterpart clone Pokemon.. The Pokemon battle like never before, to the death, and almost kill each other, before Ash realises the meaning of life, seeing Pikachu refusing to fight clone-Pikachu, and letting himself to be beaten to a bloody pulp, and sacrifices his life so that all mankind, and Pokemonkind, and indeed the whole world can live. Mewtwo realises what he has done, but too late. Ash is dead.
Then Piakchu tries to bring him back to life using his Thundershock, but there is nothing he can do. He begins to cry for his dead Master, and best friend. All the other Pokemon cry also, and together, their tears bring Ash back to life. All the Pokemon realise the bigger picture, and Mewtwo explains the meaning of life at this point, (but it was lost on me) and goes off to contemplate the ultimate truth, that he admits, Ash already knows so well. He wipes out everyones memory, and returns them to the point in time before it all began. Right at the end, Ash glimpses Mew, and says that he thinks he’s seen it before, when he left Pallet town, and one day he will capture it. The movie then ends (I think, ‘cos some ****** next to me fell asleep on me, and I could barely see the screen) .
THE END!!
