| Land of my ancestors - the land of my dreams. Ivy hails from the land called the "abode of the clouds", which has also been likened and known as "Scotland of the East". This land of her ancestors is no other than Meghalaya, a small tribal state tucked away in the lush green hills of North East India. Her people belong to the Khasi tribe, a tribe that is somewhat unique not only in the country but also in different parts of the globe. It seems unimaginable that her kinsmen till date follow a system that is matrilineal in character, a leanage that is based on the name carried by the mother and handed down to her children.. From time immemorial the weaker sex never faced the problem of having to put up with male domination. There was no need to fight for womens' liberation. In fact women around the world should come and learn how to be liberated, from these simple folks. With this kind of background it is only but natural that Ivy is a very independent type of person. She is now settled down in Madras the capital of South India, and is employed in an Institute called Centre for Research on New International Economic Order. At the same time, she is dedicated to helping out the poor down trodden marginalised people in South India. She loves to work for the uplift as well as the empowerment of women in India. Besides this, she is dedicated to the cause of underpriviledged children, orphans, senior citizens belonging to the lower income group and also issues related to the environment. She feels that if she could achieve the above set of goals, perhaps her service to suffering humanity will inherently transform the lives of the teeming millions, which will certainly make our world a better place for a better tomorrow.
