One of Hong Kong's leading actresses in the 1960s, Ivy Ling Po was back in Hong Kong yesterday as she attended a press conference for the LAI FA HUANG GUNG 2003 (lit. BEAUTIFUL FLOWER IMPERIAL PALACE 2003) Lunar New Year stage show. At the invitation of Lydia Shum Tin-Ha, Ling is joining the cast for five of its nine shows. The show will run from February 1st through to February 9th. In addition to Shum and Ling, other performers include Alice Lau Nga-Lai and James Wong Jim. Ling, who resides now in Canada's metropolitian Toronto area, will be in Taiwan later this year for a nine show revival of the LOVE ETERNE (aka LIANG SHANG-PO AND CHU YING-TAI) musical. The revival is being staged, in part, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Ling's performance in the 1963 Shaw Brothers film version of the musical. Ling: "It's the 40th anniversary of my performance in LOVE ETERNE so it's very meaningful for me to get the opportunity to do the musical again.
