Plot Summary
Shaw Brother's number four hit of 1969 covered the story of Tang Pohu (Ling Po), the most popular Jiangnan's scholar, who was on his idyllic walk and ran into a beautiful maid name Autumn Fragance (Li Ching). Her three smiles immediately locked his soul as the young scholar tried his best to win her heart. Pretended to be robbed, he sold himself to be a servant at the Hua in the hope to meet the beauty and to conquer her heart.
 During one month at the Hua, Tang faced many challenges including being confronted by his counsin upon arriving and serving the Hua's two silly sons. In addition, the girl in his dream was not a person of an easy virtue. Her doubt in him as being the real Tang Pohu and his consistency in seeking after her only got him closer to trouble each time.
 After many difficulties in seeking the beauty, Tang's excellent poetry and artistic talent finally won Autumn Fragance's heart. They tied the knot and returned to Tang's hometown.
Review
Being it was Ling Po's last Huangmei Opera with Shaw Brothers, this movie can be considered as one of Ling's best work. The film was entertaining with a solid cast. Ling Po once again engaged in her typical male scholar role. Unlike some of the earlier work, her role as Tang Pohu was more relaxed and tragic-free. It was fun to see Ivy in a ladies' boy character.
