Hitler in the Cupboard

Continued from pg.8

It was fun being in charge of all the action, though Aaron to himself,  he watched Stu and Buzz go bug eyed, as the clay snake coiled itself and slithered across the  driveway.  Aaron's answer to all their questions was, "It's my secret."
Buzz stomped on the clay snake, and it stopped moving.
"I knew you were going to do that" said Randy.  Aaron unpealed the clay from off the sidewalk, rolled it into a ball, and pinched it in two.
"Here" he said, handing half to Stu, and the other half to Buzz, "make a shape with it, and give it to me."  Buzz rolled a coil, and stuck a ball of clay on the end of it.
"here" he said handing it back to Aaron,  "it's a mushroom!"
"sure it is" joked Randy, "it's about the size of your.."
"Hey, none of that" joked Aaron.
Stu didn't know what to make, so he handed the ball back to Aaron. "Make one of your little people"
"OK" said Aaron, making a quick job of it.   "Now I will take this clay up to my room, say the magic words, and bring them back to life"   He disappeared into the house, and came out a few minutes later, holding a paper bag.
"I now present again, the magic of squiggly clay"  he pulled the "mushroom" out of the bag  it just squiggled back and forth like it was bowing.
"Damn" said Buzz, truly amazed. "How did you do that?"
Aaron pulled the little figure from the bag. It was moving around in a mockery of human motions.
So that's what your kid brother was talking about,  I'll bet it has something to do with that cupboard" said Stu analytically.
"No, not even warm" said Randy, but Aaron was almost given away by his nod. Buzz caught the interaction. Stu knew he was on the right track,  little Mark had just about described the procedure.  Whatever it was, Stu figured that Aaron discovered the secret, and if he didn't want to share it, that was his business.
"I'll bet it's some trick clay your mom's boyfriend brought back from Europe" said Buzz. He examined the little figure, and squished it in his hand. It stopped moving.
"you're  pretty good at that" said Randy sarcastically. The comment went right past Buzz.
"Do it again" commanded Buzz, intrigued with the moving clay, "do another figure, a woman this time"
Aaron fashioned another guy, but stuck two pea shaped balls on it's chest. Buzz nodded and Aaron ran upstairs to do the magic.
"It's still acting doofy," commented Buzz, who was holding it more carefully this time.
"It's got clay for brains" Stu answered,
"just like you" said Randy under his breath.
"I don't know how to make them smart" said Aaron, shrugging his shoulder.
The window opened from the kitchen, and Aaron's mother called out,
"Aaron time to come in and wash for dinner"
"can I keep this one for the evening?" asked Buzz, holding the little figure in his hands.  Aaron looked down, thought a moment and finally said,
"OK, I got more upstairs, but take care of it, I want the clay back in good condition"   Buzz's face lit up with a dull grin. Aaron didn't want to think what Buzz was going to do the little figurine squiggling in his hand.
"I'll see you guys after dinner" he said,
"Neat trick" said Stu, still wondering how it was done.
"Yeah" answered Randy, saddling his bike, "I'll see you later"  Randy  peddled out the driveway, his bike making a clicking noise.
