Divine Warmth and Light

"He makes the night cover the day and makes the day overtake the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient." (Qur'an, 39:5)

In the darkness before the dawn, the kernel of light is already present. In man, the essence of God is already present, even before He has shown Himself.

An example: Assume you are sleeping; there is darkness in your spirit. After that, you enter the stage between being asleep and being awake. The darkness of the sleep still dominates, but the light of the morning is already there. Likewise, the spirit of God is present in each human being, even if he/she shows no Godly characteristics at all.

Therefore, you should not be disheartened about your fellow beings. Those who are not aware of the Spirit of God will sometimes feel themselves spiritually cold; they will then be receptive to find the warmth within themselves. That warmth is in your heart as a glowing charcoal. Those who are not aware of God's Spirit sometimes feel themselves spiritually in the dark; at these moments they will be able to find the light within themselves. This light is as a burning lantern in the darkness of the night.

If you understand this, you will know if you are in the spiritual darkness or cold.

Goddelijke warmte en licht

"Hij maakt dat de nacht de dag bedekt en maakt dat de dag de nacht inhaalt, en Hij heeft de zon en de maan dienstbaar gemaakt." (Koran, 39:5)

In het duister vóór de dageraad is de kern van het licht al aanwezig. In de mens is de geest van God al aanwezig, zelfs voor Hij zich heeft getoond.

Een voorbeeld. Stel je voor dat je slaapt; in je geest is het donker. Dan kom je in het tussenstadium tussen slapen en wakker worden. Het donker van de slaap overheerst je nog, maar het licht van de ochtend is al aanwezig. Zo ook is de geest van God aanwezig in de mens - zelfs al heeft dat menselijke wezen geen enkel goddelijk kenmerk.

Daarom moet je niet verontrust zijn over welke mens dan ook. Diegenen die zich niet bewust zijn van de geest van God, zullen zich op bepaalde momenten in hun leven spiritueel koud voelen; dan staan ze open om de warmte binnen in zichzelf te vinden. Die warmte is als een gloeiende kool in je hart. Wie zich niet bewust is van de geest van God, voelt zich soms spiritueel in het donker; op dat moment kunnen ze het licht binnen in zichzelf vinden. Dit licht is zoals een brandende lantaarn voor reizigers in het duister van de nacht.

Als je dit begrijpt, zul je weten of je spiritueel in het donker of in de koude zit.
