Annual Gathering

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad started the tradition of the Annual Gathering (originally known as the Jalsa Salaanah) in 1891. He explained the purpose of this gathering and stressed the importance of its continuance in an announcement on 30th December 1891. He said:

“All friends should try their utmost to come on this date to listen to divine discourses and to participate in supplications. This convention will focus on disseminating truths and knowledge that are essential for the advancement of faith, conviction and wisdom. In addition, special supplications will be made for these friends and particular attention paid to them in prayers and the utmost effort will be made in the revered presence of the Beneficent and Merciful that God, the Most High, may draw them in His direction, accept them for Himself and bring about a pious change in their life.

“A short-term benefit of these gatherings will be that by coming on the appointed dates, all the new brothers who have joined the Jama‘at in the preceding year will meet and recognise their older brothers and in this way the feelings of kinship and familiarity will continue to develop. Prayer will be offered in this gathering for the salvation of any brother who has departed this temporary abode during the year. Efforts will be made before the Most Honourable, all Glory is His, to unify all the brothers spiritually and to remove their aloofness, alienation and differences. There will also be many other spiritual benefits and profits of these gatherings that shall, God willing, become manifest from time to time."

This year's Annual Gathering will start on 22 December. On this occasion, we request everyone to pray for the well being of all brothers and sisters, to resolve differences, and to implement positive intentions for the coming year.

Jaarlijkse bijeenkomst

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad begon de traditie van de jaarlijkse bijeenkomst (oorspronkelijk bekend als de Jalsa Salaanah) in 1891. Hij legde de bedoeling van deze bijeenkomst uit en benadrukte het belang van de voortzetting ervan in een bekendmaking, waarin hij zei:

"Alle vrienden dienen hun uiterste best te doen om in deze periode te komen om naar godsdienstige boodschappen te luisteren en in smeekbeden te participeren. Deze bijeenkomst zal zich richten op het uitdragen van waarheden en kennis, noodzakelijk voor de bevordering van geloof, overtuiging en wijsheid. Daarnaast zullen speciale smeekbeden worden gedaan voor deze vrienden, speciale aandacht zal aan hen worden besteed in gebeden, en de grootste moeite zal worden gedaan in de eerbiedige aanwezigheid van de Weldadige en Genadige dat God, de Allerhoogste, hen in Zijn richting moge leiden, hen voor Zichzelf moge accepteren en een vrome verandering in hun leven teweeg moge brengen.

Een korte-termijn voordeel van deze bijeenkomsten zal zijn dat, door op de vastgestelde data te komen, alle nieuwe broeders die gedurende het afgelopen jaar de djama'at zijn binnengetreden, hun oudere broeders zullen ontmoeten. Op deze wijze zullen gevoelens van verwantschap en vertrouwdheid worden versterkt. Er zal in deze bijeenkomst worden gebeden voor de zaligheid van iedere broeder, die gedurende het jaar het tijdelijke met het eeuwige heeft verwisseld. Er zal ten overstaan van de Meest Eervolle, alle lof zij Hem, inspanning worden verricht om alle broeders spiritueel te verenigen en om hun afstandelijkheid en verschilpunten weg te nemen. Er zullen ook vele andere spirituele voordelen zijn aan deze bijeenkomsten die, als God het wil, van tijd tot tijd duidelijk zullen worden."

De jaarlijkse bijeenkomst zal dit jaar van start gaan op 22 december. Wij vragen een ieder om ter gelegenheid hiervan te bidden voor het welzijn van alle broeders en zusters, om geschillen bij te leggen, en om goede voornemens ten uitvoer te brengen in het nieuwe jaar.
