Skydive Parties

They're mostly myths, but where there's smoke there must be some fire!

Over the years Oldskydiver has been to many parties that had Skydivers as the major participants. There is no book on the subject that I know of but I've heard alot of myth and nonsence. Most of that spoken by folks who weren't there.

One outting that I remember clearly ( it was on the evening when I'd made my 500th skydive earlier that day ) a goup of us went to a local establishment to celibrate. We were in public you understand so nothing got all that out of hand. Well of course, the "tity shots" were never in hand and there were drinks with whipped cream that you could describe a a bit racey but not all that obscene. Still, other tables were giving us ovations

for being a show and for doing what they wished they had the nerve to do.
That night & other nights no skydiver was ever without a dance partner. For
real, husbands asked us to dance with their wives because their women wanted to dance but the guys were too shy, go figure.
That wasn't the case every time of course. There were occasions when some of us frightened the locals and were asked to "cool it".
Parties on DZ were fun years ago, there was some streaking & nudes on 4-wheelers, all big fun. Over the years
fun on some DZs has chilled. For a long time DZs liked being known as adult play grounds. I'd like to see some of that return. It was fun, it was safe! Even the tame stuff has slackened some places. One DZ that had a pajama party in their hangar now freaks if you want to sleep on the couch in the student room, which was a weekly bed for those who partied long & wanted to be on DZ early the next day to skydive. I guess the only thing constant is change.
Parties in Skydiver's homes are as varied as the Skydivers themselves.
There has been some great hottubbing for sure and of course there is often a profusion of liquor. Whether your talking about Skydive house parties that happened when I first got into the sport or the get togethers I've been to of late Skydivers offer great hospitality, there's fun, food, drinks and a place to sleep it off. The over riding fact is that everyone plays at his or her own speed, amoung friends.

Party with those who have conquered their fears, it's fun!
