Ancient grinding stones!  About 2500 years old!!

We spent about 3 hours at the Museum that morning.  Then, some of us grabbed a quick lunch at the cafe at the Nile Hilton, and took a short cab ride to the Khan-el-Khalili....perhaps one of the oldest markets in the world!  It was fun and interesting for a couple of hours, after which the crowds and heat began to bother me.  So, a couple of us took a  cab ride back to the air-conditioned comfort of the Salma Hotel.

Later that evening, we boarded the sleeper train for an overnight journey south to Aswan.

Waiting to catch the train to Aswan at Giza Station

The dinner on the train was best described by Andrew when he called it "airline food and plenty of it".  I could have sworn I had the same meal on the Northwest Airline flight from Detroit to Amsterdam a few days ago!!  The journey itself was very pleasant and brought back memories of train journeys in India from what now appears to be a distant past!  We arrived in Aswan mid-morning the next day.
