Ancient grinding stones! About 2500 years old!! |

We spent about 3 hours at the Museum that morning. Then, some of us grabbed a quick lunch at the cafe at the Nile Hilton, and took a short cab ride to the Khan-el-Khalili....perhaps one of the oldest markets in the world! It was fun and interesting for a couple of hours, after which the crowds and heat began to bother me. So, a couple of us took a cab ride back to the air-conditioned comfort of the Salma Hotel. |

Waiting to catch the train to Aswan at Giza Station |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
The dinner on the train was best described by Andrew when he called it "airline food and plenty of it". I could have sworn I had the same meal on the Northwest Airline flight from Detroit to Amsterdam a few days ago!! The journey itself was very pleasant and brought back memories of train journeys in India from what now appears to be a distant past! We arrived in Aswan mid-morning the next day. |
