Imagine this:
Everybody in this room is colorblind. Think about what it must be like. You have never known that there is color out there; in fact, you dont even know what color is! I am the only one who knows what it is. I try to explain it to you, but it makes no sense at all. None of you know otherwise! Finally, I tell you that there is a chance for you to receive this ability to see color, but you will need to devote your life to it. It will be incredibly fulfilling, and there will be no need to worry about itbut this decision needs faith. Finally, one person asks for me to give it to him. It is that simple, he has it now! It is amazing! He is speechless! He begs of everybody to make the change with him, for he knows that this was the best decision of his life. Everybody can see his joy that he has, he is experiencing something that has been around forever, but is absolutely new to him!
I know this is kind of corny, but what is the point of living a black-and-white life? There is something far better out there! His name is Jesus! He is the life. He tells us in John 4:10 that He is the "Living Water," and in verses 13-14 that "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give to him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." Jesus gives us the only thing that is completely fulfilling. It takes faith to take the first step, but Im sure that those of you who have accepted Christ all agree with me, that it is the best step that you have ever taken. The cool thing is that we have the power, through Christ, to be a witness to this amazing thing. We have the power to share it with other people. The second part of that verse: "but the water that I will give to him will becoming in him a well of water springing up to eternal life" is cool because Jesus is powerful enough for the whole entire world! A well of water has enough water to feed somebody for a lifetime, whereas Jesus is big enough to fulfill us for the rest of eternity. All throughout The Acts it talks about witnessing, and how people were actual witnesses of Jesus power in their lives. Imagine the happiness that one would receive after having the burden of colorblindness taken away. In John chapter 9 it talks about Jesus healing a mans blindness with spit and clay. Verse 39 explains Jesus saying, ""for judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.'" The reference to those "who do not see" is for those of us who were blind to Christ before He found us. The other part that "those who see may become blind" is for those of us who think that we know what we are doing, like the Pharisees in this narrative, but really are not including God into their lives.
It takes a lot to accept Jesus. Many people around the world are martyred every day because of their choice to follow Him. When it comes to doing what is right, God does not expect us to. That is why he sent his flawless Son to be a sacrifice for our salvation. It is so easy to accept Christ because of this sacrifice.
Jesus Christ made so many things possible. Not only are we saved from eternal damnation, and welcomed into an eternal life; but we are allowed to go straight to God with anything that we want to bring to Him through prayer, as oppose to Old Testament times, when everything had to be relayed through a messenger: Jesus Christ is our messenger. He says in John 14:6 that "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. " This is Jesus welcome. In The First Letter of Paul to Timothy, chapter 2 verses 5 and 6, Paul explains that: "...there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. "-Jesus Christ was ready to be a ransom for us. Ransom is defined as the release of property or a person in return for payment of a demanded price: redemption. Think about that, Jesus was a ransom for us! He died for our sins! I find that amazing, that somebody could love another body so much that they could pay with their life for somebody elses sins. It is because of Jesus Christ that we are able to "see color." Jesus Christ rescued us from our flesh; our sinful lives. It is because of His love that we can enjoy our life like we are now. John 10:10 talks about how "the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, I came that thy may have life, and have it abundantly (to the fullest) ." Jesus wants for us to live life to the fullest, it would be a complete waste to not appreciate every day. Maybe some of you have heard this talked about before, but I like to live my life by it, how everyday is a new day, and that Jesus wants us to live it to the fullest, and enjoy it. Jesus does not want us to waste our life, He wants us to enjoy it, and proclaim Him, like the person that saw color for his first time. He couldnt wait to share it with his friends, because he was so overcome with joy.
Joy is such a great factor that Jesus gives to us all. Ive quoted it all year, but this verse still fills me up with hope. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy my brethren, when you face various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and let that perseverance be perfect, lacking in nothing. " Joy is something that, as Christians, we can enjoy completely. Its the joy of Christ in us. We have the joy of knowing God. Not that we wont have bad days, or that being a Christian is easy, or that we need to paste on a plastic smile, but instead that we can trust in God every day to bring us through any trial that we have. We can be joyful about trials because they bring us closer to God. This joy is the Holy Spirit living in us, like a fire in our bones, making us want to share Christ with people.
Well as an application, just remember to allow God to give you the joy that He wants us to have, in order to live your life to the fullest.
