The IUP Dietetic Peer Mentoring Program is a program offered through the SDA by undergraduate dietetic students who have an overall GP of 2.75 and a major GPA of 3.0 and are of junior or senior standing. It was developed to give opportunities to students to help others and/or to be helped by peers. The Dietetic Peer Mentoring Program is divided into three sections: peer advising, peer tutoring, and undergraduate internships. Peer advisors help students to choose their classes and coursework for next semester at the Departmental Advising meeting. Peer tutors and their telephone numbers are listed on cards in the hallways in Ackerman Building and may be contacted on an individual basis to tutor Dietetics students with major classes and some non-major classes. Undergraduate internships are available to students who want to gain experience and knowledge by working with and helping professors in the department with tasks such as setting up labs or demonstrations.
