Chapter seventy
four:
Christy was
folding the clothes she had sent out to have cleaned.
She had enough clean clothes to last until they returned to the house, but
instead, she decided to take advantage of the cleaning service at the hotel.
She folded a
pair of jeans and tucked them back into her suitcase. She didn’t know when they
would be returning to the house, therefore she kept
her clothes safely in her suitcase.
She heard the
door open to the room, and Christy set down a stack of t-shirts on the bed. She
pushed open the French doors between the bedroom and the small living area to
find Isaac kicking off his shoes and removing his suit jacket.
“Honey? What are you doing home so early?”
“We agreed to
finish early today, so I could come home and spend some time with you.” He
wrapped his arms around her and met her with a kiss. “What were you doing?”
“Just
tidying up.” She
smiled brightly. “What do you want to do with your free time?”
“Well… I thought
maybe we could spend some time together, you know? Just you
and me. Maybe we could wander down to ‘the jazz’n’java’
and see a band, then go out to dinner…”
Her smile
broadened. “I’d love to.” Her arms circled his neck. “Then
what?”
“Well, according
to the guys fixing up the house… we’ll be able to go back tonight. So maybe we
could do something there?”
“Like what?”
“Hmm… I don’t
know… I was thinking… candles…”
“Yeah?” She moved her lips closer to his.
“Some music…”
“Uh-huh…”
“Maybe a bottle
of wine…” He leaned forward and kissed her.
When the kiss
broke, Christy smiled and began inching loose the knot of his tie. “Do you
think we could be a little late to see that band?”
”Of course…”

Becky was curled
up on the sofa with an extra blanket from room service.
She was boredly
flipping channels, looking for something to kill time before Zac returned. She
had already attempted to find Jenna but she had snuck out again, and wasn’t
answering her cell phone.
She turned off
the television and pushed off the blanket, deciding she was much too bored to
focus on any of the lame shows playing. She heard someone outside attempting to
open the door, but before they could, Becky was at the door and peering through
the eyehole. ‘
Becky pulled
open the door and threw her arms around Zac.
“Whoa!” He cried
in alarm. “Hey!” Without letting her go, he walked her backwards into the room.
He kicked the door closed behind him.
“Do I get a
kiss?”
“Maybe.” She smiled.
“Is that a yes
or a no?” He laughed.
“Whatever you
want it to be.” She giggled.
“Alright, then
it’s a yes.” He leaned forward and kissed her lips. “New lip gloss?” He
chuckled.
“Uh-huh.”
“Melon
flavored?”
“Nope.” She laughed. “Try again?”
“Sure.” He
leaned forward and kissed her again. “Umm… Raspberry?”
“No…”
“Alright, once
more…” He kissed her, letting the kiss linger for a few moments. “Alright. I think I’ve got it this time… it’s
watermelon.”
“No.” She
laughed.
“Alright, once
more, I’ll get it this time.” He leaned forward, but she turned her head.
“You’re guessing
wrong on purpose aren’t you?”
Zac laughed.
“Uh-oh, busted.”
Becky pushed his
hands away. “Strawberry-banana, if you’re going to loose sleep over it.”
“Alright.” He laughed and sat down on the arm of
the sofa.
“So, what do you
want to do this afternoon?” Becky asked, wandering into the bathroom to reapply
her lip gloss.
“Well, in all
honesty, I’d like to keep doing what we were just doing, if that’s okay with
you…”
Becky laughed. “Really?”
“Yeah,
really.”
“Alright,” She
smiled. “Get over here and kiss me then.”
“No way, I
kissed you first last time. You get to kiss me, now.”
Becky grinned
and ran across the room, jumping on top of him, knocking them both onto the sofa.
