Chapter sixty-four:

Jenna dipped her hands into the dish water, and removed a plate, scrubbing it clean.

Since everyone else had a hand in cooking dinner, she and Taylor offered to do the dishes.

There were too many for the dishwasher, and they were still stuck with a few to do by hand.

Jenna was distractedly staring out the window over the sink, absent-mindedly scrubbing the plate in her hands.

“Jen?” Taylor asked with raised eyebrows. “Hey! Jen!”

“What?” Jenna snapped out of her daze. “Oh, sorry.” She handed him the plate.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Oh come on, I know you better than that… does this have anything to do with Luke?”

“No. Of course not. I saw him this morning, I don’t miss him already.”

“You don’t?”

“No, I don’t.”

“Alright, if you say so…” Taylor dried the plate and stacked it in the cupboard. He knew she was lying.

Jenna handed him another plate and resumed staring out the window.

“Do you have plans for tomorrow night?”

“I don’t think so. Why?” Jenna asked, not looking away from the window.

“I thought maybe we could go out… Get out of the house for a couple hours-“

The phone rang and Jenna dropped the glass she was cleaning back into the sink with a splash of suds. “That’s Luke!” She ran across the kitchen and picked up the phone.

She spoke for a moment, then covered the phone with her hand. “It’s for you. It’s your manager.”

Taylor dried his hands on his jeans and crossed the kitchen. “I thought you didn’t miss Luke.”

“Shut up.” She shoved the phone at him.

Zac pulled an old t-shirt over his head and crossed the bedroom.
He had been given his own room, and he was happy to not have to share with his brothers.

However, he had spent the past two nights sharing a bed with Becky, and now he didn’t know if he could handle a night alone.

He removed his book from his bag and placed it neatly on the nightstand, and began removing a pile of shirts and stuffing them randomly into drawers. He would re-fold his pants and hang them up later.

He was interrupted by a knock at the door.
”Come in!” He called, attempting to force the top drawer closed, even though he knew it was too full.

Becky entered the room and carefully closed the door behind her.

“Becca! Hey!” He crossed the room and placed a kiss on her lips.  “What’s wrong?” He asked.

“Nothing…  I was just wondering if I could sleep in here with you tonight… I mean, it’s only our third night together, and I think Jen really misses Luke and wants to be alone…”

Zac laughed.

“What?” Becky asked with a smile.

“I was just going to ask if you wanted to come to my room…”

Becky laughed and hugged him tightly. “Good.”

She released him and glanced around the room, which was now a mess. “What were you doing?”

“I was unpacking…” He laughed. “Not very well, might I add.”

Becky walked over to the dresser and pulled open the top drawer, removing several shirts and refolding them into the next drawer down.

Zac grinned and wrapped his arms around her body from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. “You don’t have to do that…”
Becky laughed. “This room is a mess, Zac. I’ll never get to sleep with all this crap everywhere.”

“Yeah, but I don’t want you cleaning up after me…” He tightened his grip around her waist.

“Okay. Fine,” She laughed. “What now?” She turned around in his arms.

“Hmm… well… maybe we could go to bed and talk… you know, like the last time we visited each other, and we sat up all night talking…” He suggested. “I don’t mean we have to stay up all night, but maybe we could just talk…”

“Sounds good to me.” She smiled.
