Chapter fifty
two:
Christy followed
Isaac into the house they had rented for the seven of them in LA, while the
remaining finishing touches were made on the album.
Christy smiled
as he unlocked the door and held it open for her. She wheeled in two large
suitcases while he dropped a duffle bag in the entrance.
She helped him
take several more trips to bring the rest of the bags in, sorting them into
separate stacks according to who the owner was.
“Well? What do
you think?”
“I think I love
it. It’s big enough for all of us.”
“Wait, come
here.” He led her down the entrance hall a little ways and through the living
room to the far wall, filled with windows. The back yard sloped down onto a
small private lake, with a long dock protruding out into it.
“We can swim?”
“Yeah.”
“This is so
perfect!”
“I know.” He
grinned. “And do you know what’s even more perfect?”
“What’s that?”
“That it’s just
you and me here for another three days.”
Christy grinned
at that. “Perfect.”
“And tonight,”
He continued. “I thought we’d go out and celebrate the beginning of the album
wrapping up. I made reservations at this fancy French place, and I thought we
could go out on a real date... I know it’s been a while since I’ve been in the
studio for so long….”
“That sounds
perfect.” She smiled.
“What do you
say, we go stake out the master bedroom for our own, okay?”
She giggled. “I
think you’ve got a plan. But what about all the stuff in the hall?”
“I think we
should leave it, and that way everyone else can pick out where they want to
sleep.”
“Good plan. Come
on… show me to our room.”
……………………………………………………………………………………………
Zac brought his
suit in from the hallway, holding it on it’s hanger in it’s
protective case.
“Becca?”
“In here!” She
called from down the hall.
Zac made his way
down the hall and found Becky admiring her dress, which was hanging in a
transparent bag over the door.
He hung his suit
next to hers, then draped his arm around her
shoulders, pulling her closer. “I was just going to ask where I could hang my
suit… but I think we’ll look pretty good together…”
Becky tilted her
head to the side and admired their outfits. “I’ll keep that in mind if we’re
hanging over a door tonight.”
Zac laughed and
pressed his lips against her temple.
Luke and Jenna
came down the stairs, hand in hand.
“Hey,” Zac said.
“Hey,” Jenna
replied. “What are you guys up to?”
Becky
interrupted. “Wait, wait. Are you going to prom now?”
Jen looked at
Luke, who shrugged.
“I don’t think
so… I don’t even have a dress or anything…”
“Wait! I have a
solution!” Becky disappeared into the library and emerged with a second dress,
presenting it to Jen. “This is the one you tried on in the store when we picked
out my dress, and you said you loved it… so I went back later and bought it for
you, hoping to convince you to go.”
“Beck, you
didn’t have to do that…”
“I know, but I
wanted to! I wanted us all to be together for Prom! And besides, my parents are
paying for the entire thing anyway.” She shrugged.
