Chapter two
hundred and eighty-one:
“Christy!” Becky
cried as she wandered into the kitchen. She was used to being the first one up
in the mornings; however, she had heard Zac leave early, since he made no
attempt to be quiet. Becky was even more surprised to see Christy. “What time
did you get in?” She asked.
“Isaac wanted to
hurry and get back so he could get to the studio with his brothers as early as
possible.” Christy replied, turning the page of her magazine and spooning a
teaspoon of cereal into her mouth.
“Oh. That must
have sucked. What time did he have you up at?” Becky flipped on the
coffee-maker, and added the necessary water and coffee grinds.
“He didn’t. I
was up… I couldn’t sleep.”
“How
come?” Becky walked
over to the breakfast table and sat down across from her.
“I had a really
bad nightmare. It sounds really stupid, but it really freaked me out.”
Becky leaned
forward. “What was the nightmare about?”
Christy paused.
“Well… have you ever seen that movie… where the girl has the baby and it turns
out to be the devil….”
“The
Omen?”
“No, it’s older
than that…”
“Rosemary’s
Baby?”
“Yeah. That one. “
“Did you tell
Isaac about it?”
Christy scoffed.
“Are you kidding? He’d think I’m an idiot, then he’d
berate me for being scared over something so stupid.”
“Are you sure?
That doesn’t sound like him…”
Christy rolled
her eyes. “It’ll be fine.”
“We could always
watch the movie again, and make fun of it. It’s pretty cheesy.”
“I know!” Christy
laughed. “I can’t believe it either. I mean, I was so freaked out too.”
“Where the hell
is everyone?” Jenna shouted from somewhere in the hall.
“In here!”
Christy and Becky responded in unison.
“Did you hear-“ Becky began, whispering before Jen came into the room.
Christy nodded
and whispered back. “I grilled Jimmy when we got in this morning.”
“Good, because
it’s been pretty high drama around here with-“
“Talking about
me already?” Jen asked, coming into the room.
“I was just
catching her up to speed.” Becky replied.
“Did you work
things out?” Christy asked eagerly.
Jenna broke into
a grin. “Some things did.”
“Whoa!” Becky
laughed, while Christy hooted in response.
Jen flushed
slightly, and turned her back to them. She reached for the pot of coffee.
“Tell us about
it!” Becky urged.
“Spare no detail!”
Christy continued.
“How did it go?”
“Was it good?”
Jen blushed
further and hid her pink cheeks by opening the fridge in search of cream to put
in her coffee.
She sighed
finally, and turned to her two best friends and said. “Things got pretty hot
and heavy in the back seat of the car-“
Becky and
Christy hooted in response.
“But that’s it.
We both—mutually—decided not to push things too quickly, and we drove home.”
Becky and
Christy exchanged glances.
“Well, at least
you worked things out…” Becky offered.
Jen rolled her
eyes, and drained the rest of her coffee, not caring if it was so hot she broke
a slight sweat. “I think I’m going to work on my tan today.”
“Me
too! That sounds like
an excellent idea!” Christy got up from the table, still in her pajamas and led
the way up the stairs to the second floor.
