Chapter two hundred and sixty one:

Jen was standing in the bedroom she shared with Luke.

She had climbed out of the warm bed reluctantly at the sound of their ensuite shower running.

She had begun the search for something to wear at that precise moment, and was still searching when the shower switched off and Luke came out of the bathroom.

He was technically dry, but was wearing nothing but a towel which he had knotted around his waist quickly.

“Jen, you’re awake.” He smiled and met her with a kiss. “I thought you were going to try and sleep in.”

“I was, but I can’t sleep.” She replied, pulling a pair of jeans from the closet, then putting them back immediately.

“You had such a busy day yesterday, though.” He suggested, seating himself on his side of the bed to continue the conversation.

“A day at the spa is not a busy day.” She laughed.

“I thought you guys were getting… waxes and stuff.” Luke tested.

“That doesn’t require rest… just a few aspirin.” She smiled. “That was really sweet of you guys to treat us to a spa day.”

Luke shrugged. “It was really Ike’s idea. And you girls have been through a lot lately.” He moved on from the touchy subject of the fire quickly. “Besides, I think he wanted to make peace with you girls before he came back.”

“A wise decision. Christy has been quite moody lately.” Jen laughed.

They were interrupted by a sharp knock at the door. “Jen? Can I come in?” Christy’s voice came through the door.

Before they could answer or before Luke could scurry off to the bathroom to hide his exposure, Christy answered her own inquiries and walked into the bedroom. “I need to find an outfit to wear today, and I have nothing to wear!” She proclaimed.

Luke blushed brightly and tried to stretch the towel longer to cover himself better. He felt suddenly very aware that he was naked beneath his towel.

“We just bought all kinds of new clothes-“ Jen tried. “You’ve got a whole wardrobe full of clothes!”

“And nothing to wear!” Christy protested. “Let me go through your closet.” Christy suddenly noticed Luke was in the room and greeted him with a chirpy “Good morning!”

Jen could barely suppress a laugh, but mouthed “Sorry” to Luke.

Christy intercepted this message. “Don’t worry, Luke, It’s nothing I haven’t seen before.” She moved for the closet.

Luke dropped his face in his hand, in embarrassment.

“Jen, did you borrow my blue sweater?” Becky entered the room, still clad in her pajamas. “I can’t find it anywhere.”

Luke groaned out loud and dropped onto his back across the bed. There was no point in being shy now. He had been in such close quarters with the girls for three weeks now, figured he might as well stop trying.

“Which blue sweater?” Christy asked. “Medium blue cardigan with square glass buttons?”

Becky nodded “From the Gap.”

“It’s in my room.” Christy replied. “Come on, lets go find it. Maybe you have something I can wear.”

“Wait, what am I going to wear?!” Becky demanded as they walked from the room.

“Luke, I’m sorry.” Jen could barely contain her laughter as she crossed the room to shut the bedroom door.

Luke rolled his eyes as he got to his feet. “Its not funny!” He protested.

“It is kind of funny.” She teased, and walked toward him.

Placing both hands on his chest, she stood on her toes to kiss his lips.
