Chapter two
hundred and forty:
Becky was awake
before anyone else. She had put on a pot of coffee, and crept past Jen to ask
the bus driver when they would be arriving in
He gave her an
approximate hour and she wandered back to the kitchen; where she helped herself
to a bowl of cereal.
Within a couple
of minutes, Christy came out of the bunks, looking terrible.
“Good morning.
How are you?” Becky asked lightly.
“I feel like
hell. I didn’t get any sleep at all last night. And I am not feeling well.” She
groaned.
Isaac, who had
woken to the scent of fresh coffee wandered into the kitchen and kissed his
wife. “Are you okay?”
“No. Does Zac
always snore that loud?”
“Yes,” Isaac and
Becky replied in unison.
“How do you
stand it?” Christy asked Becky.
“I usually just
roll him onto his stomach, but I couldn’t do it last night without him falling
out of the bunk.”
“God,” Christy
groaned, holding her stomach.
“Already?” Isaac asked.
She nodded and
excused herself to go to the washroom.
“I should ask
the driver how much longer until we get to the hotel.” Isaac said out loud.
“I already did.”
Becky replied. “He said about an hour… that was ten minutes ago.”
Zac came into
the kitchen with a smile. “Good morning. How did everyone sleep?” He asked,
kissing Becky’s forehead.
Isaac rolled his
eyes and
“Shh,” Becky hushed him. “You’ll wake Jen.”
“I’m already
awake.” She replied from the sofa. “I couldn’t sleep last night either… I
thought there was a fucking bear in the bunks.”
Zac shrugged. “I
slept like a brick.”

Once they
arrived at the hotel, the bus was guided into the underground parking lot.
Before they
could prepare to get off the bus, the body guard came on.
Admittedly, the
girls were happy it was the same body guard as before.
“I think we
should talk.” He began by saying. “It turns out there are some fans at the hotel
waiting for the band to come through… I think it’s best if we wait until at
least the sound check. That should at least get them out of the building.”
“That’s a good
idea, actually.” Isaac agreed.
“What?! We’ve been stuck on this bus for twelve
hours already, we’re finally at the hotel and now you’re saying we’re stuck
here because there’s some stupid obsessive fan-girls
in the lobby?” Christy demanded.
“Honey,” He
tried to reason, “Jen is in no condition to avoid this kind of attention, and
you’re sick-“
“All
the more reason to get us off the bus!” She stormed past him back to the washroom.
“Good God, eight
more months of that and I’m going to deliver the kid myself.”
“If there’s no
other option…” Isaac began.
“What if we tell
security and have them removed?” Becky suggested.
“I tried that.”
The body guard replied. “It turns out they’re staying in this hotel and they
can’t remove them.”
Jen drew in a
deep breath. “If there’s nothing we can do, then there’s nothing we can do.”
“We can start
bringing the luggage up to the rooms.” Zac suggested. “And we can leave for the
sound check a little early, which should lessen the time you have to stay on
the bus.”
