Chapter two
hundred and eighteen
Christy helped
herself to a bottle of water from the fridge and stood next to Isaac as he sat
at the table reading one of her books.
“God, can you
believe I’ll be that big?” She pointed to a picture of a ridiculously pregnant
woman. “It will be horrible!”
“No, it won’t.
You’ll be cute.” He smiled.
Christy raised
her eyebrows. “You’ll still be attracted to me when I look like that?”
“Of
course!” He looped
his arm around her waist and pulled her to sit on his knee. “I’d still love you
no matter what!” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “And just knowing you’re
carrying my child…”
Christy smiled.
“I love you.”
“I love you
too.” He grinned. “And I kind of can’t wait for you to be all big and
pregnant.”
Christy laughed.
“I can honestly say I’m not looking forward to that.”
He slipped his
hand beneath her camisole and ran his fingers along her stomach.
She giggled in
response, “Honey! That tickles!”
“Sorry.” Isaac
couldn’t hide a smirk. “I’m just trying to get used to the idea that you’re
going to be a mommy.”
“And you’re
going to be a daddy?”
His grin
broadened. “Yeah… it’s going to be so hard not to tell anyone.”
Christy smiled.
“Well, Becky and Jen know… I’m sure Jen told Luke.”
“And I told
“So everyone knows.”
“Your parents don’t
know yet.”
“Neither do yours.”
“I don’t intend
to tell them either.” She admitted with a sigh.
“C! You have to
tell them, they’ll want to know they had a little grand-baby!”
“But then they’ll
want to see the baby and visit and the child will be just as screwed up as I
was when I was a kid. It’ll scar the baby for life, honey.”
“Your parents
are not that bad.”
“They’re
horrible!”
“You said they
would ruin the wedding, but they weren’t that bad.” He gently ran his hand up
and down her back.
“I’m sure
Isaac laughed. “Yeah. I’m sure he would…. Just think about it, okay? Maybe
you’ll change your mind.”
“I won’t.”

Zac had laid down on the sofa to watch television, but soon after he
got comfortable, Becky came into the living room and climbed onto the sofa with
him.
She managed to
squeeze herself between the back of the sofa and his body, resting her head
comfortably on his chest, and tangling her legs with his.
Zac smiled to
himself and gently swept her hair back from her face, as she sighed heavily.
“Becca? Why don’t you go and lay down if you’re tired?”
“Because
Luke and Jen are talking in our room.” She replied softly, unable to hide the fatigue in her
voice.
“You could sleep
in my bed if you want.”
“It’s not worth
it if you aren’t there.” She replied.
Zac chuckled. “Okay.”
He moved his arms around her and in one swift move, lifted her up and carried
her down the hall.
She laughed, “Zac!
I can walk!”
He paused and lifted
her higher, tucking his arm beneath her knees and lifting cradling her back in
his other arm. Her arms looped around his shoulders for support. He carried her
into his room and kicked the door closed.
He gently eased
her onto the bed. “Better?”
She smiled. “Will
you stay?”
“If
you want me to.” He carefully
climbed over her body and laid on his side next to
her. He placed his right hand on her stomach, touching the narrow strip of
exposed flesh between the waist of her jeans and her t-shirt.
“I’d like you
to. I feel safer with you here.”
“Safer?” He
asked in slight confusion.
She nodded. “I
know it’s stupid.”
“No, it’s not.”
He smiled. “I know that you’re worried about all that stuff you found on the
website. I mean, I would be too.”
She laughed. “Zac,
everyone already knows everything about you. You choose to become famous. Your
fans know what you want them to know… All of a sudden there’s this site with
everything imaginable about me, and I haven’t done anything, except date you. I’m
like… Yoko.”
Zac laughed out
loud. “You’re not Yoko. There are some people out there who have chosen to single
you out simply because of our relationship, and they have no right to do that.
And on that site, they made significant threats towards you and Jen and
Christy, which is against the law. And we’re going to do everything we can to
protect you girls. I know you’re scared, but I promise we’ll take care of you.”
Becky smiled
slightly. “Thank you… I feel a bit better now.”
“Still want me
to stay?” He asked.
“If
you don’t mind.”
“Of course I don’t.”
He smiled.
