Chapter two hundred and fourteen:
After a long hot bath, Christy climbed out of the bath tub and put
on one of Isaac’s old t-shirts, which fell about an inch below her backside. She
walked over to the mirror, wiping a streak of steam from the mirror with the heal of her hand.
Using the paddle brush she had placed on the counter earlier, she
quickly brushed her hair up into a high pony-tail. She placed her brush back in
it’s original place, and in the process noticed the book
she had left open in the book she had purchased earlier that day.
She picked it up with a smile and tucked it under her arm. She
walked out into the living room where Isaac was seated on the sofa with his
guitar cradled in his lap.
She quietly slipped in and curled up next to him, abandoning her
book in the process.
“Sorry, C.” He smiled. “You know I couldn’t leave it at home.”
“I know.” She rested her head on his shoulder.
“I’ll put it away.”
“No, don’t.” She placed a hand on his arm. “I want to listen to
you play.”
“What do you want to hear?”
“Nothing.” She smiled. “I just want to be
with you. Just… keep doing what you were doing.”
He laughed. “I was just messing around.”
“That’s okay.”
He played a few notes, then stopped with
a chuckle. “Let me play something for you. Pick a song.”
Christy smiled. “It’s okay. I shouldn’t have interrupted you.”
“This is our honeymoon. Anything you want this week is not an
interruption.” He put his guitar away, gently laying it in its case.
“Okay. Let’s go for a walk.”
“What? It’s almost ten pm.” He chuckled, glancing at his watch.
“So? We’re in an isolated area. No one will care.”
“Alright.” He grinned. “If that’s what you
want, that’s what we’ll do.”
She stood.
“Want me to give you a second to change?”
“No. That’s okay.”
“You’re going out like that?” He questioned, glancing at her bare
legs.
“It’s dark.” She shrugged, pulling his hand.
“Let me throw some jeans on.” He glanced down at his boxers.
“But it’s dark!”
“Alright, fine.” He followed her through the bedroom and out the
back door.
She slipped her hand into his as they walked down the beach
towards the ocean.
“Wow, that moon is beautiful.” He observed,
eying the large full moon as it hovered over the water, reflecting in the
waves.
“Its amazing. The water looks so
beautiful at night.” She smiled, dipping her toes lightly in the ocean. “It’s
warm.”
“Is it?” He released her hand as she took a few more tentative
steps into the ocean.
She turned to face Isaac, walking back towards him. “Let’s go for
a swim.”
He laughed. “It’s dark. We’ll swim in the morning.”
“No!” She protested. “This is perfect.”
He watched her with a grin for a moment. “Okay… let’s go back to
the house, and get our suits.”
“Honey, it’s dark. We don’t need bathing suits.”
“You’re insane!” He laughed. Christy tossed something at him, and
he just barely caught it in his hands.
In confusion, he held up what she had thrown to him with a laugh.
“Jesus.” She had tossed him her panties.
He looked up again, just as her only other article of clothing
came at him, which he also caught.
He watched her walk further out with her back to him, her skin
glistening in the glow of the moonlight. She dipped beneath the water and
resurfaced, pushing her hair back from her face. “Come on!”
Isaac laughed. Under no circumstance would he have done this. He
glanced around to be sure no one was watching.
He removed his t-shirt and kicked off his shoes. Finally, he
dropped his boxers and set off into the water.
