Chapter two
hundred and five:
Jen clutched
Luke’s hand tightly as he led her into a restaurant which he claimed to have
the best breakfast in town.
Even the smell
coming from inside the restaurant was enough to send her stomach into knots.
She wasn’t even hungry; and she didn’t know if she could keep the food down.
They found a
table in the far corner, which was surrounded on both sides with windows, and
held a perfect view of trees on either side.
Jen bit her
lower lip as Luke picked up his menu, and finally did the same.
“They don’t have
fruit and yogurt? That’s usually all I have in the mornings…” She began.
Luke chuckled.
“Oh come on, order a big meal. My treat…. I think I’m going to have bacon and
eggs with home fries and toast.”
“Um… I don’t
know what I want yet…” Jen began, trying to buy herself time. “What’s good?”
“They make
amazing home fries here.” Luke said, folding his menu and laying it on the
table. “Anything is good though, I guess.”
“Uhh… I don’t know if I can eat a big meal…”
“We could always
take left-overs home… I’m sure Zac would eat it.”
Luke added with a grin.
Jen looked up at
him, and something in his smile made her feel slightly re-assured. ‘Okay, I’ll
get what you’re having. Without the bacon though.”
Luke smiled.
“Great.”
The waitress approached “Ready to order?”
Luke gave their
orders and added, “A coffee for me… Jasmine tea, love?”
Jen nodded.
“Do you have
jasmine tea?” Luke asked the waitress.
“I can check.”
She offered.
“Green tea is
fine if you don’t.” Jenna supplied, folding her hands in her lap.

Christy was
lying on her back in the hot Bahaman sun. She had laid out a towel and opened a
magazine, hoping to take a few minutes to get a tan.
Isaac had wanted
to go for a swim and cool off. He had dropped his towel and his t-shirt in the
sand and went straight to the ocean.
Christy found
this behavior cute and folded his towel and t-shirt and placed them neatly in the
sand.
Christy could
barely concentrate on the magazine in front of her. Not that
Cosmo wasn’t interesting, she just couldn’t focus.
Isaac came
running up the beach and plopped down on top of both his t-shirt and the towel,
clearly out of breath from the swim.
“C, you’ve got
to go in, the water is perfect.” He spoke.
Christy smiled.
He was dripping wet, but made no attempt to dry himself.
She watched him
as he gazed out towards the sea.
“Honey, what’s
wrong? Are you not talking to me or something?” He asked, after a few more
moments of silence.
Christy drew in
a deep breath. “I think I need to see a doctor.”
Isaac studied
her carefully, his eyes wide with alarm. “What’s wrong, are you sick? Do you
think-“
“I’m fine. I
just… I need to know if we are pregnant or not. I just have to know for sure…”
She paused. “As soon as possible. Waiting is killing
me.”
“I know, it’s killing me too.” He ran a hand through her hair, and
left it resting warmly against her cheek. “I was going to suggest it, but I
didn’t want you to think I was doubting you.”
“But… if by
chance the test was wrong…” Christy began and swallowed hard. “I wouldn’t mind
trying… to get pregnant.”
“Me too,” He
smiled, happy to be on the same page. “I’ve kind of gotten used to the idea of
having a baby.”
Christy smiled,
finally. “Me too.”
“Let me make
some calls, and see if someone can give me the name of a doctor, okay?”
Christy leaned
forward and kissed his lips. “Thank you.”
