Chapter one
hundred and ninety-five:
Isaac was
sitting at the head table in the rehearsal dinner, answering questions from
various relatives. Christy had excused herself to go to the washroom and had
been gone nearly half an hour. He was beginning to worry. He signaled
Isaac rolled his
eyes.
Christy appeared
next to him in a flourish of skirts and quickly took her seat.
“Everything
okay, C?”
“Yeah, I just
ran into Jen on my way back from the bathroom and it turns out there was a
little crisis. But we fixed it.”
“What was it?”
“Oh.” She
paused, taking a sip of water to think of an excuse. “The hairstylist didn’t
know if they had enough bobby-pins.”
“Oh.” Isaac
furrowed his brow. “Is everything sorted out now?”
“Yeah. Jen is going to run to the store
tonight.”
“Okay, good.”
Isaac smiled.
Someone in the
hall began clinking their wine glass with their knife
and soon the whole hall erupted in clinking.
Isaac grinned
and leaned over, giving his fiancé a kiss.

Becky had finally found a chance to slip away from the excitement
and made her way towards the hallway where the bathrooms were located.

next morning for hair and nails and various other things Christy had set up.
”Hey, babe. Are you okay?”
She opened her eyes to see Zac sitting across from her on a love
seat.
“I’m fine.” She smiled. “Weddings are beautiful.”
He laughed softly. “This is only the rehearsal dinner.”
“I know. But everything is going so well…”
“True. But I feel like I haven’t been alone with you all night.
Somehow because
Becky laughed out loud at that.
Zac smiled. “I guess it is kind of funny… but I’m pretty sure her dad brought
his own supply because he keeps insisting that he has the perfect guy for
Becky laughed again.
“Come on, are you almost ready to go back out there and brave the
storm?”
Becky smiled. “Okay. But stay with me this time, I don’t want to
have to run away to find you again.”
He laughed. “Deal!”
