Chapter one
hundred and eighty-two:
Christy was
curled up on the sofa, painting her toenails a bright shade of red. She glanced
up at the television, only partially interested in the old movie she was
watching.
She heard the
electric lock on the hotel room door beep and open.
Isaac shuffled
inside, dropping his keys on to the table.
“Hi honey.”
Christy spoke, still with her back to him.
“Hey
C.” He crossed the
room with two cups of coffee from the starbucks
around the corner.
He placed the
coffees on the coffee table and sat back, picking up the bottle of nailpolish she had just finished using.
“’Kiss me, Kiss
me, kiss me’?” He chuckled. “What an excellent name for nail polish.”
Christy smiled. “I think it’s cute. And I love the color.”
He shrugged.
“Still looks red to me.” He leaned over and placed a loud kiss on her cheek.
She giggled. “I
know. What did you bring me?”
He reached out
for her cup of coffee and placed it in her hand.
“Thank you.” She
raised the cup to her lips.
“What are you
watching, C?” He asked, draping an arm over the back of the sofa. “Umm… some old movie. I’m not sure the name of it. There’s
really nothing else on.”
“Okay, well,
maybe we can go out and do something.”
“Like what?”
“Well, we could
go to a club or something… whatever you’re up for.”
“Maybe something
a little more… low key… Can we go see a movie?”
“Sure. Anything
you want to see?”
“Not really. I
haven’t really been paying that much attention to what is coming out in
theatres.” She smiled slightly, gingerly touching the fresh paint on her big
toe-nail to test if it were dry.
“Okay… well, how
about we order room service, and order a movie from the hotel?”
“I checked into
that already.” Christy said, lowering both of her feet from the sofa to the
floor. “All of the movies are insanely expensive. I think the cheapest was
$7.99. You could go to the theater for just a few dollars more.”
Isaac smiled.
“Yeah, but here we could open a bottle of wine… and have the whole place to
ourselves.”
Christy moved
closer to him on the sofa. “Okay. You win.”
“I knew that
would work.” He laughed.
Christy rested
her head on his shoulder.
“Do you know
what I realized today, C?” He gently placed a warm palm on her bare thigh.
“What?”
“I noticed that
in exactly one week from today we’ll be getting married.”
Christy smiled
broadly. She had noticed; she had been practically counting down the days since
they agreed on the date. However, she didn’t want to ruin the mood. “It’s
amazing, isn’t it? one week from today I’ll be Mrs.
Isaac Hanson. I can’t wait.”
“Me either. I
thought I’d be getting nervous or getting cold feet or something by now, but
I’m actually excited. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Christy lifted
her head from his shoulder to face him. “Aww, you’re
so sweet.”
“Yeah, I know.”
He teased. “But I mean it, though. I love you. You’re prefect in every way.”
“I love you too.
And I’m not perfect.”
“For me you
are.”
Christy laughed.
“Are you trying to sweeten me up for something? There isn’t a surprise bachelor
party planned is there?”
“Not
that I know of.”
Isaac shrugged. “I’ll probably just go out with some buddies and have a couple
of beers.”
“That sounds
fun. Please don’t go to a strip bar or anything. Those places are so tacky and
filthy.”
“I have no
intention of going to a strip bar.” Isaac laughed. “That’s why I’m keeping such
a close eye on
“Good.” She
tried to keep a stern face, but cracked a smile anyway.
“Besides, anyone
I want to see naked is right here.” He leaned over to kiss her neck, but
instead pressed his lips into her skin and blew a raspberry, which he knew
would send her into a fit of giggles.
