Chapter one hundred
and fifty three:
Becky was
helping Zac push a card piled high with luggage. He insisted they could get
everything in one cart, and spent nearly twenty minutes re-arranging everything
so it fit.
Becky stood back
silently, not wanting to cause a fight by criticizing him.
When he had
finished, she pushed one side of the cart while he pushed the other.
Becky laughed.
“I don’t think I’m helping very much… its really heavy.”
“That’s okay. I
can get it.” He offered, talking over and centering himself on the handle bar.
Becky smiled.
“Now I feel bad.”
“You can hop
on…” He shrugged.
“Yeah right,”
She laughed. “I’d fall off!”
“So, what are we
going to do when we get to the hotel?”
“Well, first
we’re going to get everything loaded onto the bus so it’s all ready to go, then
we’re going into the hotel for the night.”
“Okay… Do you
want to do something with me when we get there?”
“Sure. Like
what?”
“Well, I could
paint your toenails and do your hair,” She teased.
“Umm… no thanks,
but I’ll see if
Becky laughed.
“Maybe we could go out. Go for a walk or… I don’t know.”
“Okay. We could
go for a walk, then we could order some movies and
just hang out on the couch together.”
Becky smiled,
‘That sounds perfect.”
“I thought so.”
He grinned, wrapping an arm around her. He swept her hair back and kissed her
temple.
Becky smiled. “I’m
excited for this tour.”
“Me
too.”
“I’ll be happy
to just be with you whenever you’re not working, even if we are stuck on a
bus.”
He laughed. “Ahh, I bet you’ll get sick of me really fast.”
“I don’t think
that’s possible.” She stood on her toes and kissed his lips.

Jenna was curled
up on a bench out front, hugging her knees through her thin pajama pants. The
rain was pouring down over a few feet away, however,
she was kept dry by the concrete atrium that protected the front of the
airport.
She sighed
heavily. The rain made the air feel much cooler than it was, and the wind
picking up didn’t help.
“What?” She
asked, encased in confusion.
“What happened
yesterday at the mall.”
“What? Why?”
Jenna asked.
“Because, I
value your friendship… and I don’t want you to be mad at me.” He sighed. “You
were right. I don’t want to make you anymore unhappy than you already are. It
will just be our little secret.”
Jenna smiled.
“That’s great!”
“But, on one
condition. You behave, and don’t give the bodyguard too much trouble. And don’t
be giving him the slip either.”
“That’s black
mail!” She protested.
“I know.” He
replied.
Jenna sighed
heavily in exasperation. “Fine… On one condition.”
She raised her
eyebrows prepared to challenge him, but he held up his hands in defense. “Okay,
okay. What is your condition?”
“You take me to
go see a movie tonight. My choice.”
“Fine, we’ll see
a bad chick flick.” She rolled her eyes at him.
“I don’t
care...” He chuckled. “Come on. We’re supposed to meet everyone inside so Ike
can call a cab.”
She nodded and
followed him inside.
