Chapter one hundred and forty six:

Jenna walked until she reached the nearest town, and found a small park. Thankful it was deserted; she picked the center swing and sat down.

She removed her cell from her pocket and glanced at the screen.

Luke’s number was listed four times. Taylor’s number was the most recent.

Jen sighed heavily. She didn’t particularly want to talk to either.

They were leaving the next day for the first stop on the tour, Baltimore. By that time she would have no choice but to be in close quarters with Taylor. Becky would be with Zac, and Christy would be busy with Isaac and finishing the last details of the wedding.

Jenna sighed and pushed the sing back and forth with her feet, boredly.

“Hey, there you are.” A voice interrupted her thoughts. “I’ve been looking for you.”

Jen looked up to see Taylor standing in front of her. “How did you find me?” She slowed to a stop.
”Becky said you had gone for a walk, and this is really the only place for miles.” Taylor strolled over and sat down on the swing next to her. “You’re right, Jen. I had no business talking to Luke about your relationship behind your back. It’s just that you’re my friend and he’s my friend, and I was just trying to help. I know I overstepped some boundaries, and I apologize, okay? I won’t do it again.”

Jen forced a small smile. “Thank you, Tay.”

“And you’re right, maybe I am a little self-centered sometimes, but I only wanted to help you. You’re my friend, I want to help.”

“I know. I snapped at you. I’m just… not in a happy place right now, I guess.”

“Why? Talk to me.” He urged.

“It’s nothing, it’s just this thing with Luke… I don’t know.”

“Jen, he is crazy about you. I saw that big thing of flowers on the kitchen table. You don’t do that if the person you’re buying flowers for doesn’t mean something…”

“I know that. I just need some time.”
Neither of them spoke for a moment.

“You know,” Taylor said, “We’re all kind of worried about you.”

“You don’t have to be. Everything is fine.” She insisted.
”Okay, I believe you… You’d tell me if it wasn’t, right?”

Jen nodded.

“Good. And this time I won’t tell Luke, I swear.” Taylor teased.

Jenna smiled at that.

“Come on, why don’t you and I hang out today? Feel like going to the mall?”

“Okay.”

“Come on, let’s go then.” Taylor stood.

Christy was flipping through a binder she had gotten from a local cake shop for possible ideas for the wedding cake. It was the last detail that they needed to look into, and Christy wanted to get it over and done with.

Isaac opened the door to the apartment and dropped his keys on the table in the hall. “Christy?” He called.

“In here, baby.” Christy answered, but stood up anyway and walked into the hallway.

“I got you a coffee, C.” He smiled and passed her a tray of two coffees and a brown paper bag in between.

“What’s this?” She asked, touching the bag with a smile.

“Nothing, I got you a present.” He grinned and kissed her forehead, wrapping his arms around her.

She smiled and peeked inside the bag. “Wow, coffee and a cookie?”

“Yeah, nothing is too good for my fiancé.”

Christy laughed, and took the tray into the kitchen, where she set it on the counter. She removed his coffee and handed it to him.

“So have you finished packing?” Isaac asked, eying the pile of magazine clippings, binders and a notebook scattered across the kitchen table.
”Yeah, I just have to figure out how to cram it all into one suitcase.”

“There’s room in mine, if you need it.” He offered, taking the coffee and sitting at the table.

“Yeah? And what if we get stopped at customs? How will you explain all those extra bra’s and panties?” She teased, sliding into his lap with her own coffee.

“I’ll just say that they’ belong to my incredibly hot wife-to-be.” He teased. “What are you doing here?”

“Looking at wedding cakes. I need your help.”

“Alright…” He pulled the binder closer so he could see it, and held her tighter in his lap.

“We need to feed 300 guests, so we should keep that in mind.”

“What about an orange cake?”

“Orange? Why?”

“Well, you know, Hanson orange. And we could have the symbol done in the middle, like the ‘Middle of Nowhere’ CD.”

“What a cute idea,” Christy teased. “Why don’t we just scrap all of our wedding plans, and instead of a dress, I’ll wear a Hanson t-shirt, and you can wear your outfit from the ‘Mmmbop’ video and-“

“I hope you’re kidding.” He chuckled.

“Of course, baby.” She laughed. “But it is a cute idea.”

“Yeah, maybe if two fans were getting married.” He laughed and kissed her shoulder.

Christy flipped the page in the binder from the bakery. “What about this cake?”

“Hmm… it’s a little… tacky, don’t you think? Too flowery?”

She smiled. “I love you.”

He laughed. “I love you more.”

“Oh, shut up and pick a cake.” She teased.
