Chapter one
hundred and twenty-four:
Becky discovered Zac in
his room.
“I called Jen’s
cell and found out that Christy is doing okay, she’s feeling a little weird,
but she’s doing well.”
“Great.” Zac
said, dropping a pair of jeans onto a pile of clothes in his suitcase.
“What are you
doing?” She asked in confusion.
Zac shrugged. “I’m
packing.”
Becky laughed. “Not
well.” She sat down on the edge of his bed. “You’ll never get it closed.”
“Will you sit on
it for me?” He wiggled his eyebrows.
Becky laughed.
He sighed
heavily and sat down next to her. “Talk to me, babe.”
“About
what?” She asked,
tucking her hair behind her ear.
“About
all this stuff with Christy.”
“Zaccy, there’s nothing
to talk about. Everyone is okay, here.”
“I know that,
but it could have-“
“Zac,
its okay.” She
pressed.
He paused,
debating on whether or not he wanted to press the issue further, then sighed.
“Okay, then give
me a hug.” He opened his arms.
Becky smiled and
wrapped her arms around his body.
He held her
tightly, gently rubbing her back.
“You give the
best hugs, Zac.” She laughed.
“Yeah, I know. I’m
the best kisser too, right?” He teased.
“Hmm… I might
need some more evidence on that one…” She teased.
“Alright, then
go out with me tonight.” He bargained.
“Zac…” She began
pulling away from him.
”Becca, listen to me, okay? I know you’re upset about what happened to Christy,
but it’s okay. Everyone is fine, lets
go out and have a good time and relax for a little while, and everything will
be fine. Just let me take your mind off it for a couple hours.”
Becky smiled. “Okay.”

While Isaac was
helping Christy get ready to leave, and
She found a bench in the shade and found Luke’s number in her contacts list.
She pressed the ‘talk’
button and held the phone to her ear.
The phone rang
three times and Luke’s voice answered. “Hello?”
“Hey,
Luke?” She pressed
the phone tighter to her eat, suddenly missing him unbearably.
“Jen! Love! I tried calling you last night, is
everything okay?” He asked, sounding suddenly worried. “I kept calling for
hours and there was no answer at either the house or your cell. I even tried Zac’s cell and there
was no answer there either.”
Jenna closed her
eyes tightly. She didn’t want to lie but she also didn’t want him to worry. “No,
everything is fine… we just went to a movie.”
“Yeah? That sounds like fun… You aren’t having
too much fun without me are you?”
She laughed. “No.
I miss you.”
“I miss you too.”
He sighed. “I’m honestly counting down the days until you get here.”
“Me
too.” She smiled.
“Do you think we
can do something when you get into town? Maybe do something special?”
“What
for?” She asked.
“No reason, just
that I miss you and I plan to spend as much time with you as I can. I’ll be
done my exams by then, and my uncle gave me the week off.”
“That’s great…
but I thought you weren’t enrolling in college until the fall.”
“Well, I hadn’t
planned to, but I want to get my degree as quickly as possible.” He explained. “So
I’m taking classes whenever I can to pick up enough credits to graduate early.”
“That’s a good
plan.”
“Yeah, but school
and work are boring. Tell me what you’ve been up to?”
Jenna sighed
heavily. “Absolutely nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“I’ve been
spending a lot of time with Christy and Becky. They’re driving me crazy with
all this wedding stuff. I just know they’re going to put me in a hideous hot
pink bridesmaids dress.”
Luke laughed. “Yeah,
but I bet you’ll be pretty no matter what.”
Jenna grinned. “Oh yeah? I’ll remember that!”
