Chapter one
hundred and twelve:
Christy walked
out of the bathroom wearing a towel wrapped around her body and one wrapped
around her head.
Isaac was
sitting at the desk in the corner of the room surfing the internet on his
laptop.
“Hi, honey. What
are you doing?” Christy asked, standing behind him and circling her arms around
his shoulders.
“I’m just
checking my email, I’m waiting for these PR people to
email me back.”
“Cool that
sounds…”
“Incredibly
boring?” He smiled.
“Well, I’m not
going to lie.” She kissed his cheek and released him.
“What are you
girls planning to do today?” Isaac asked.
Christy pulled a
pair of jeans out of the closet. “I don’t think we have anything planned. Luke
is leaving this afternoon, so Jen will be pretty depressed after that. We’ll
probably just end up watching a movie or something, you know? Hanging out around the house.”
“Okay… Well, I
don’t want to ruin your day, but you do know that the body guard is coming over
today, right?”
“What?” She
groaned. “Baby!”
“I’m sorry, but
you know that it’s a matter of security.”
She sighed.
“This sucks. Those people haven’t threatened us in weeks!”
“Christy, I know
that. But I’d never be able to live with myself if something happened to you,
you know that right? I love you, and I want you to be safe. And we’ll have a
fantastic wedding, then we’ll make all kinds of babies… okay?”
Christy laughed.
“Yeah, that’s so not going to work on me this time.”
“Alright,” He
laughed. “But it’s for your own good.”
“Okay, if you
say so.” She smiled. “Wait, if the album is finished and coming out soon, why
are you going to the studio today?”
Isaac turned in
his chair to face her. “Because we still have the studio booked for another
week, and we’re trying to make the most of that time.”
“Oh. That makes
sense… but promise me that next week you won’t work so hard.”
“I promise.” He
chuckled.
“Good. And
promise me that you’re going to help me with all this wedding stuff? Tonight?”
“I thought my
mom was helping.” He smirked.
“She is, but you
have to help too.”
“Why’s that?” He
teased.
“Because
I said so.” She
teased.

Jenna followed
Luke through the busy airport. She clutched his hand tightly as he led the way
towards his gate. After already checking his bags, all that was left was for
him to get on the plane.
At last, they
stopped outside one of the gates. Jenna hoisted her purse up over her shoulder
and held her breath, dreading what the next words out of his mouth would be.
“So, I guess
this is it…” He began awkwardly.
Jenna looked up
at him, forcing herself not to cry already.
“I know.” Luke
sighed. “It sucks… but it’s only going to be two weeks. We’ve been apart for
much longer, so two weeks shouldn’t be too tough, right?”
She sighed. “It
will be hard enough.”
He forced a
smile. “I’ll call you. And you can call me. And we can email and chat online…”
“I know.” She blinked
to hold back tears. She looked away from him at last. “I don’t know why I’m so
upset. It’s only two weeks, like you said… I just… I just wish we had more time
together, you know? More than a week or two.”
“It sucks.” He
enveloped her in a firm embrace. “I know, it sucks, but I’m going to join you
on the tour and we’ll have a whole month together.”
“I know… that
just seems like so far away.” She mumbled, tightly grasping the back of his
t-shirt in her hands, holding onto him tightly.
“We’ll see each
other soon, though, okay? And I’ll call tonight, as soon as I get home.” Luke
promised.
Jenna nodded,
sniffling quietly.
His watch beeped
on his arm. “Love, I’ve got to go, okay?”
She slowly
released him. “Promise to call me?”
“I promise.” He
smiled.
“Good. You’d
better.”
He bent and
gently kissed her, before hurrying off to his gate.

He found a
swivel chair and sat down to finish his coffee, with a yellow legal pad
balanced on one knee.
Being in the
studio, writing and recording songs was the last place he wanted to be. He
loved the process of making new music, but he wanted to get the album released
and go back out and tour for the fans.
He was tired of
staying in one place all of the time, and was starting to find himself going
stir crazy.
He wanted to savor the feeling of playing live again. He wanted the rush of stepping
onstage to thousands of girls screaming every night, getting high on the music,
then bringing himself down at the end, only to do it
again the next night.
He wanted euphoria.
Most of all, he wanted to get out and meet miscellaneous girls. He wanted to
get out and meet nameless and faceless fans for brief nights, for one night
stands, and for moments to forget his troubled relationship status, or lack
there of.
He wanted to
forget Jen and have a little fun while doing it, if possible.
“Hey! Look who
started without us!” Isaac came into the room loudly, dropping his messenger
bag on the floor under the mixing desk. “That’s unusual.”
“Yeah, normally
he spends two hours in the bathroom first, checking his hair.” Zac teased.
“Anyway, let’s
get this stuff done and over with, I’ve got a date tonight.” Zac plopped into a
chair.
“A
date?”
“Yeah, I’m
taking Becky tonight, for a really fancy dinner.”
Zac rolled his
eyes. “I know that. We’re going to someplace really fancy. Expensive.”
Isaac laughed.
“Alright quit bickering.”
“No, I’m
serious.” Zac protested. “I’m going to tell Becky that I love her.”
“I’m not tied
down, I love her.” Zac shrugged. “I can’t imagine being with anyone else.”
