Chapter one hundred and five:
Christy stood
with Isaac at their terminal gate in the
They had already
gone through customs and left their baggage, now they simply needed to board.
Christy wrapped
her arms around his body and nestled her head on his chest with a heavy and
tired sigh.
Isaac smiled to
himself and gently kissed her forehead. “I know, C. It’s been a long weekend,
hasn’t it?”
She nodded. “Yeah.”
“But I think
we’ve done the right thing.”
“I think so too.
I’d rather invite them than live life together regretting it.” Christy said,
pressing as close to him as she could. The bulkiness of his backpack made it a
little difficult.
“Ike? Can I ask
you something?” She asked after a moment of silence passed between them.
“Of
course.” He replied,
putting his arms around her tighter.
“Do you think
about us having children?”
He paused than
held her at arms length to examine her face.
“I’m not!” She
said quickly, before he could ask. “I was just thinking about what Jimmy said,
when I introduced you…”
He smiled.
“Okay, you had me worried there for a moment… not that I think a baby would be
a bad thing… I just think we should be married first. My parents would kill me,
they’re pretty old fashioned.”
“I know… I was
talking about after we’re married… I never really thought about having a family
or anything… I mean, I never thought of myself as getting married before
either…”
He smiled. “Well, I have to admit… I have thought about having kids before… I
have even thought about us having kids.”
“Really?” She smiled. “That’s kind of cute.”
He chuckled. “I
guess… I mean, I’d like to have kids some day… I’d like to have a big family
someday, you know?” He asked, then continued. “You
know, if that’s okay with you.”
Christy laughed.
“Well, I’d have to think about it. Maybe I don’t want babies. Maybe I want
thirty cats.”
He raised his
eyebrows in alarm.
“I’m kidding.”
She teased. “Like I said, I’ve never really thought about it… I mean, I never
imagined having a boy or a girl. I’ve never even looked after a kid under six
before. I’d have no idea what to even do. I don’t think I can change a diaper
let alone do all that other stuff…”
“Really? I’ve been around babies all my life!”
“I know. You
have seven siblings!” She teased. “You come from a very large family.”
”Yeah.”
“Well, I can’t
see how having a large family would be a problem. You’d have to teach me how to
look after kids and everything… but I’d like a big family. With
you.” She smiled.
“That’s great.”
“And on the
bright side, we’ll get to have lots of sex.” She teased, walking towards the
gate.
