Chapter ten::
Becky laid awake in bed. Jenna was breathing quietly in the bed next to hers.
She slowly stood and made her way down the hall and downstairs.
She clicked on the tv in the basement den and climbed onto the couch, wrapping a warm afghan around her body. All these different time zones were making it harder and harder to sleep.
They had at least gone as far as flirting, but it was so casual that she was sure Zac didn't even notice that he was flirting back.
"Hey." A quiet voice said from behind her.
She looked up to see Zac in one of his brothers' wife beaters and a pair of extremely baggy shorts.
"Hey." She smiled.
"Can I sit?" he asked.
"It's your house."
"Yeah, but if you're busy, then I don't want to disturb you."
"No, it's fine." she moved over to make room for him.
"Can't sleep?" he asked.
She shook her head. "I can't get used to all these time differences."
"You do after awhile." he smiled.
"Yeah." she bit her lip, unsure of what to say next. "Why can't you sleep?"
"I had a meat lover's sub for dinner."
"Well, that's kind of a good reason."
"You bet. Hey, want to talk about it?"
"About what?"
"Whatever's on your mind. I'm not really good with advice or anything, but I'm a good listener. What’s your problem?”
"My problem?"
"Yeah."
"I-I don't have any problem..."
"Well, you seemed pretty lost in thought there. Come on, I've got 3 younger sisters, I can listen to girlie stories."
"I don't think that this is something you could help me with." she smiled. "Aw, come on. Try me." Zac smiled warmly. He moved closer to her.
"Okay.... well... Let's say, hypothetically, there's this girl and she likes this guy. And she's heard that this guy likes her too, but she isn't exactly sure."
"Did this girl and this guy play air hockey the other day and did the guy get his ass kicked by the girl?" he asked moving closer still and grinning. "I mean, Hypothetically, of course."
Becky blushed, looking down.
Zac gently placed his hand on her chin and pushed her chin back up to look at him.
"Maybe..."
"So does this mean I still owe you ten dollars?"
She moved to get up.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!"
"I don't think you can help me." She muttered.
"Hold on, I haven't tried yet." He took her hand.
"Ok." she sat back down, further away from him this time.
"If you want to be more, than we can."
"What about you? What do you want?"
"Well, I've never really had a girlfr-"
"I know."
"You do?"
"Your brother told me..."
Zac blushed. "Ok. Well, what about you?"
"Well, I've had past boyfriends, but they didn't seem to mean anything to me."
Zac pulled her closer to him. "Well, I'm sure that I can be different then them." he gently interlaced his warm fingers with hers.
Becky watched him play with her fingers. "Do you want to be something more then just friends?" she asked him.
"Yeah, actually, I do. I was just waiting for the balls to ask."
"Okay." She tried to hold back her laughter.
"Well, uh...."
"Maybe we should go to bed, We leave at like five something tomorrow on the bus."
"Oh, Ok." Zac hadn't wanted to, but wasn't going to argue.

Jenna sat at the small table on the noisy bus. It was nearly ten in the morning and they'd been there since 5:30.
She was working busily at the homework she had brought from school. It was becoming more and more difficult to concentrate, with Taylor blaring music from the bunk and Isaac and Christy watching TV in the back. Becky and Zac were playing video games a few feet away.
