| "Convention Kemushi"
July 19, 2005. Kemushi is a character I created to represent the "child inside me". She was cameo-d in the comic Blade for Barter after I won the grand prize with her in the Seven Seas Entertainment LLC, national "Manga-fy Me!" cartooning contest. :) Comments: In 2005 I had planned on attending the annual "Otakon" anime convention in Maryland, USA. My friends had gone a couple times years before, and since it always fell on my birthday or when I was busy I could never find time to make it there. It seemed that 2005 would've been the year because I started designing clothes so I could cosplay my character Kemushi (many images ended up on t-shirts). I drew this picture to sketch out my main outfit, (I had already knit the leg warmers, had the shorts, I just needed to design the tank top). Afer finishing this image I designed and ordered the tank top. In the end, I never went to otakon because something came up anyway, haha. This image was the first of those where I actually inked the image on paper, and then scanned, and just filled in the already inked lines. You can see it a bit in the lack of uniformity in the line definition. I like it though, it was quick and easy, and still turned out pretty well. And while this isn't a perfect image, this is one the first where I started drawing more realistic bodies (she actually has thighs, haha, plus this's more an image of me cosplaying kemushi than it is of kemushi herself).
