What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is poweful Oriental Medicine, which strenghtens the immune system and serves to prevent disease, control the pain, unblock stagnation, preomote balance and harmony, and therefore increase the ability to function and increase the quality of people's lives. Acupuncture is well developed whole health care system based on natural energertic laws.
How does Acupuncture Work? Acupuncture; This ancient healing technique understands and describes the patterns of energy that flows throughout system of meridians in our body. To tap this energy, very fine needles are inserted into the body at specified points in order to regain balance, relieve pain and improve health. The Acupuncturist opens or closes specific "gates" or points grouped along certain lines of energy flow called meridians, which go deep into the body. Inserting the acupuncture needle into the specific points of the body energy stimulates the flow of the vital energy called "Qi" through specific points in the body. vital energy is then balanced to unglock stagnation, fill the emptiness, and therfore promote balance, and harmony in the entire human being. According to biochemical and neurological research, acupuncture influences the central and peripheral nervous system. Evidence shows, it releases a morphine-like substance called endorphins, which cause and analgesic effects and make acupuncture paarticularly effective in pain control. Acupuncture has the obcvious effect of stimulating or strenghtening the body's immune system, which in turn mobilizes the natural defense power inside the human body. This reaction is the major mechanism of anti-inflamatory and anti-infections effects induced by acupuncture.
What is Qi? Qi is a mame for the energy field in the human body and is the underlying principle in acupuncture theories and treatments. The Qi-Energy moves throught body in many diffrent ways; It enters and exits, it rises and falls, it expands and contracts. It moves through all organs, vessels, tissue, and meridians in the body. If the Qi is is out of balance, obstructed, or stagnated in the body, a person becomes weak at first. later progressing into a diseased state. In other words, the proper balance of Qi-Energy determines the wellness and vitality of a person.
Why Acupuncture? Human being has extraordinary power of recovery; if it did not, then every fever, each emotional drama, each stress or injury would leave the person a physical or emotional wreck. The natural disposition of the body, mind and spirit is to gravitate back toward state of equilibrium known as homeostases. The aim of the acupuncturist is to assist these homeostatic functions. What the acupuncturist searching for when he sees a patient, are "pattersns of disharmony" which have caused the symptoms now afflicting the patient. For example, if a Western doctor and and acupuncturist were both to examined a parient with difficulty breating, the medical doctor might diagnosed asthma and the acupuncturist might diagnose a deficiency in the energy of the lungs. Western Medicine will prescribe inhalers and steroids to decreased inlflamation and suppress the symptoms, so the patient can go on functioning. The acupuncturist starts to unblock stagnation in lung channel/meridian, prescribe herbs to clear pathogen, to strenghten body immune system and move the body into the state of homeostasis and into optimal health. After the innitial crisis, patien is placed on more herbs to heal the weaknesses in the body, and to cure the root problem.
