[ Sega's New Sonic Unveiled ]
The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) features a first look at one of Sega's most promising games for this year - a new Sonic the Hedgehog title by the name of Sonic Shuffle, formerly Sonic Square. The game is being prepared for a fall release and supports network play.
Sonic Shuffle will allow players to control Sonic, all of his other regular cohorts, and some new characters in a Mario Party-style game. The evil Void, Sonic Shuffle's main villain, has harnessed the power of special crystals called Precioustones. It's then up to you and three other players to compete in several Mario Party-style minigames to get the Precioustones back.
Players are required to navigate several themed board-game-style maps by choosing cards. These boards are littered with color-coded and iconic spaces that will thrust Sonic and crew into different minigames. According to the game's producer, there will be approximately 50 minigames in all.
Sonic Shuffle features a story mode for one player, a battle mode for two to four players on the same Dreamcast unit, and a network mode for two to four players across the Internet. And the best part about the Internet mode is that there will be no lag. According to Sega, players should not be able to see a difference between the offline and online games.
As for the game's graphics, Sonic Shuffle employs the same "celshading" routine that Jet Grind Radio has wowed gamers with. Early screens show some of the game's great-looking 3D environments as well as the characters' very cartoony looks.
Sonic Shuffle will be on display at Sega's E3 booth, and it is sure to be the company's crowd stealer. For more information on the game, including more in-depth gameplay details, as well as some first screens, check out the latest issue of EGM (with Sonic himself on the cover), which is currently arriving in the mailboxes of subscribers nationwide and should be at retailers next week.

[ Unreal Tournament On Dreamcast? ]
Although nothing is confirmed now, Daily Radar is reporting that the Dreamcast will indeed see a port of the PC uber-hit, Unreal Tournament. If this were to go down, chances are that Sega would publish the port. Chances are that we will not get a glimpse of the game, if it is in production, until E3. Check back for more on this rumor.

Fair enough, but E3 is upcoming, so we may very well see it sooner!
