Shoaib was born on the 13th of August 1975
in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He is currently 24. While in Pakistan,
Shoaib plays for the Lahore Cricket Association and represents
his country in other tournaments. Looking at his batting style,
one will immediately see that he is a right hand batsman. Many
of us haven't actually *seen* him batting as he is at the bottom
of the batting order.
He has been proclaimed as the worlds fastest bowler, and there
is a long list of batsmen who will lend their name in support
to the title. He bowls right handed and at furious pace. His
Test Debut was back in 1997/98 against the West Indies at Rawalpindi,
his hometown. He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in the
same season.
From the above then, we can see that he was
well prepared for the World Cup as He had already played against
some of the other teams who competed in the World Cup. Including
England and India whom he came up against in last year’s
Coca Cola Sharjah Cup.
Shoaib, with his youth and athletic abilities,
has definitely shown everyone that he has been a strong force
within the Pakistan Squad. We all know he played a key part
in the World Cup, hopefully we will see more of Shoaib at
his best in the UK. Everyone has seen the speed Shoaib can
bowl at. This has indeed been an important attribute for him
in the World Cup as in many other matches, but not only does
he have this amazing talent for speed, he also shows to have
a variety of bowling styles which he is not afraid to experiment
with during a match.
