Bye Bye Bye
I will never get sick of this song.
This is far and away their best single so far. I love it. I can almost
do the dance. (When I say "almost," I mean "very badly and I can only really
do the lasso thing.")
It's Gonna Be Me
I remember getting the CD and wondering
what the next single after Bye Bye Bye would be, and I'll be honest: I
wouldn't have picked this one. The harmonies are nice, but a little out
of place in an uptempo song like this. You know how radio play can make
you like a song less? I think radio play actually made me like it more.
Space Cowboy
The chorus is pretty catchy but
other than that, I think this song is very corny. JC's had some hits and
misses with his writing/producing. I had originally written a metaphor
for JC's hits and misses here, but I reread it and it just sounded really
stupid. Let's just say that I only listen through the first chorus of this
song before I skip to the next song. (Just be glad I spared you that metaphor.
It was bad.)
Just Got Paid
Not one of my favorites, but it's
got a funky beat. It's a redone Johnny Kemp song from the 80's, and it's
definitely an improvement from the original.
It Makes Me Ill
Despite the street talk that seems
slightly out of place coming from Justin's mouth, it's a very very good
song. Were there to have been a fourth single from NSA, I'd want this to
be it.
This I Promise You
Beautiful song, beautiful harmonies.
JC's "forever has now beguuuUUUUUn" is just incredible. However, this great
song comes with a CRAPPY CRAPPY HORRIBLE video. I'm bitter. David Meyers
sucks as a director. I eventually expect to have a whole rant page about
how much David Meyers pisses me off.
No Strings Attached
I LOVE the hard beats at the beginning
of this song. It's a good way to incorporate the title of the album into
a track without referencing the origin of the CD title. I'd hate to hear
a song about Lou Pearlman.
Digital Getdown
Yes, it's about videophone sex.
Yes, JC co-wrote it. Yes, it's my one of my favorite songs on the CD. It's
just so catchy and good! Justin raps, and doesn't suck. My love for this
song grew a lot after I bought the Live at Madison Square Garden video.
JC + tongue + transparent floor = me in a puddle.
Bringin' Da Noise
It's like "Here We Go" 2000. Remember
when I said earlier that JC's had hits and misses? Umm... miss. I guess
I can't totally blame JC on this one because he's not actually the
head writer.
That's When I'll Stop Loving You
Dear Dianne Warren,
All your songs sound the same. If
there were a CD called The Worst of *NSYNC, this would be track #2 (right
after "I Need Love"). I expect a written apology. You suck.
No love,
Rachael
I'll Be Good For You
This is a much more adult sound
than most of their music. I'm impressed with Justin's second attempt at
writing, but his liberal use of "baby girl" and "ain't" knock it down a
few notches. Side note: the No Strings Attached credits actually say "clapping:
Justin Timberlake."
I Thought She Knew
Eminem can swear up and down that
*NSYNC can't sing, and Backstreet fans can say that only Justin and JC
get solos, but I doubt they've ever heard "I Thought She Knew." *NSYNC really
sets themselves apart from the crappy boyband masses (O-Town, I'm looking
at you) by putting this beautiful a capella track on their album. It's
so pretty! |
