Let The Tour Begin

Graphic: "First Day of Tour". Shots of guys on their bus. One of the beds is covered in leopard print with a tiger striped pillow. Wow. Even though they're millionaires, these guys never refuse the right to be tacky. Chris and Justin talk about how they like traveling. "Your body gets tired," explains Justin, as he commits pronoun fraud. "There's nothing like a good night's sleep on the bus, and I know that sounds weird to a lot of people," says JC, "but man that bus'll just rock you to sleep."

Tacky tacky tacky. You don't mix and match your animal prints, boys.
The guys walk through the airport, and JC waves to the screaming fans. Justin is wearing a do-rag. That boy is just wrong. He gets even more wrong in the next few seconds of the video as he says "the most important thing about touring is getting to see the looks on each and every one of your fans faces." Justin, I don't have any fans. YOU have the fans. When I send Lance my English textbook for his birthday, make sure you take a look at it, too.

Joey talks about how he doesn't even think about his celebrity. "To me, I'm a normal person doing a job that I love." Joey negates the "normal person" remark by dancing in an elevator. On the tour bus, Chris holds up a postcard and says "this is where we are right now. Oh my gosh, Seattle's on fire! Somebody do something!" as he holds a lighter in front of it. Justin laughs cutely and calls Chris weird.

Go Joey! Rock yourself all the way to the seventh floor.
JC, Joey, and Lance are about eight miles outside of Tacoma on their bus and Lance comments that there are some fans following them. "You'll hear a little nice screaming every once in a while. That's the scariest part though. The things that scare us the most on the road is the fans following us from city to city... they get distracted 'cause they're near the bus and they could have wrecks." With a grin, he adds "...so if you're thinking about following us on the tour bus, please don't." JC laughs.
Lance says not to follow the bus, but since when do I listen to Lance? Never.
Shots of the Tacoma dome. JC says, "When you sell tickets the first day, then you're excited because you can bring the show to those people man. You're like, 'Yeah, done deal, we're gonna come rock a show for you guys!'" Shots of screaming fans running outside the bus. This part irritates me because I'm not really one for writing *NSYNC on my forehead or chasing a bus and screaming. I'm more like the "flirt with the cute roadie (hey Blane) in the hotel bar and see if he can get me floor seats" type of girl. The guys laugh with the fans and Justin makes a spazzy motion. Chris yells, "You're on MTV!"
This is Joey making fun of the girls who freak out. Hahaha. Go Joey.
Graphic: "6 Hours Before Show". Joey says they're gonna do soundcheck in a minute, then waves his hands around like a magician on crack. Back outside, the fans are excited. They write *NSYNC on their foreheads. Some girls came 2700 miles from Tampa to see them because all the shows down there were sold out. Some girl wants to win tickets and she'll eat a slug to get them. Gross. I would so not eat a slug to get *NSYNC tickets. You've got to be kidding me. Why would they even bring a slug to the concert in the first place? This whole slug-eating thing is just confusing.

Graphic: "4 Hours Before Show". The guys are soundchecking "I Thought She Knew", and it doesn't sound too good. Lance is wearing a tight orange shirt that looks really good on him. The song ends, and Justin shakes his head and says something that the microphone didn't pick up. I'm not sure, but I think one of the words he says is "horrible". Aww, it wasn't that bad.

Hanging out, in front of the bathrooms, waiting for JC. Good times, people. Good times.
Graphic: "2 Hours Before Show". Justin says, "What we're about to do now is we're gonna go into a meet and greet." "We meet 'em and we greet 'em," adds Chris helpfully. "JC's always late," says Joey. Lance says, "He's known for being the last one everywhere. Shot of JC coming towards them riding a scooter. Justin sees him coming applauds his entrance sarcastically. JC pops a wheelie on the scooter.
JC wears FuBu. I did not previously know that.
The guys walk into the meet 'n' greet and Chris says "watch this... it's gonna make me look really tough" and slams the bike he was riding into the wall. Hah. In an interview, Joey says "It's great to see so many people are interested in what you do." I slam my head into the wall because now Chris is the only one who hasn't messed up the pronoun thing that irritates me so much.

Time-lapse shot of fans coming into the Tacoma Dome. Joey and JC are hanging out in their dressing room. Graphic: "47 Minutes Before Show". Let me make an important note here: Joey is playing with a peacock feather and wearing a Strawberry Shortcake shirt. Okay, I lied... that's not a really important note... but it's just SO weird. "Let me explain something to y'all," JC says, "an artist's dressing room is like their home. How the HELL did y'all get in here? You guys broke the rules, man." Joey calls security and the security guard plays along and kicks the MTV camera crews out, even ramming the lighting guy into a pole and then the door. Hahahaha.

There's just something weird about this, Joey.
Chris in his interview chair says that they have to get a hackey before they go onstage. Graphic: "14 Minutes Before Show". JC is all dressed in his No Strings Attached gear and is riding a scooter in the hallway. "I'm usually the first dressed so I have to wait about five or ten minutes for everyone else to get ready." But... wait... I thought Lance and Justin said you were always late? So confusing. JC scoots down the hallway to where Anthony Giordano (remember him? stage manager? scary lookin'?) is standing. "Anthony doesn't let us run late," JC says. Anthony shows us his watch and says it's the official *NSYNC time. "We're not late. Ever," Antony says. JC tells the camera, "He'll beat us." Antony jokingly punches JC in the arm. "Sorry sir!" JC says. Ha.

Chris explains that to get a hackey, they stand in a circle and all five of them have to kick it before it hits the ground. [Note: Sarah has told me that it's actually called a "hack," not a "hackey." These boys, I tell ya.] "It's delayed shows before," he says. Graphic: "9 Minutes Before Show Starts." Shots of the guys hackeying. Lance is pretty good. Joey kinda sucks. JC says, "You'd think after four years, we'd have it down to a science. (Slight pause.) We suck." The guys all kick the hackey, and then head backstage.
