Cut an 18" lilac branch, make sure you ask the tree first. Remove the bark of the green branch.  Choose an incense for clensing and hold the branch in it smoke while chanting.

WAND AND SHILLELAGH

Cut and appropriate sized branch for a Wand from a willow tree.
Always ask the tree for its permission. If it denies you you will know.
Remove the branches leaves and bark.
Use sandpaper to smooth the length and taper the tip of your branch.
You could carve personal symbols into the wand, names, and/or words of power.
Seal it with polyurethane or a wood stain for color.
A SHILLELAGH or staff is the same procedure but it is a much longer and thicker branch. Stain it with a dark color stain if it isn't made of blackthorn to resemble the traditional staff.

SILVER BRANCH - faery wicca wand

The silver branch is a wand of healing and a tool of transformation. To create a silver branch find a living apple tree(traditional wood). Get the branch at dawn after the evening of the new crescent moon.
Between the time you find the tree and you preform the ritual visit the tree often as possible sending love and healing to the branch you wish to cut. By being with your apple tree the elemental fairy will feel respected and give you the health and help need.
Wand Cutting Ritual
*A special knife to cut the branch from the tree.
*A gift to the tree fairy, to be buried at the base of the tree
*A black cotton cloth to wrap your branch in.
* Pure Spring water
Sit back and tell the tree spirit why you have come - stay quiet so the spirit can speak to you. If the tree faery says no go away. Then  thank it and come back another new crescent moon. Offer the gift, cut the branch and sing a song like this.

Many go into the soul,
with eyes shut tight and mind asleep,
But silver branch upon this tree
I call to you come unto me,
Gently guide my soul to health
with open eyes and mind awake,
For health and help I  come  to you,
For health and help, I cut you free,
For health and help, let healing begin this day.

Empower your. branch.

* Strip the bark and allow sunlight and moonlight to fall apon the branch - 3 days.
*Glue a crystal into the tip of your silver branch.
*Use a natural fiber cloth handle about five inches long.
*Select colors and design to promote healing and growth.
*Paint symbols
