THE FOUR CITIES AND FOUR TREASURES |
The Tuatha De Danann brought with them the four great treasures...
From Falias (fa-lee-as) - north - they brought the first talisman Lia Fail (lee-ah faw-il), the Stone of Destiny. They brought it to Tara and it screamed when a rightful king of Ireland sat or put his foot on it. According to tradition the stone became the famous Stone of Scone on which the Scottish kings were crowned at Scone, near Perth. It was removed by Edward I, in 1296, and taken to Westminister Abbey, in London, being placed under the chair of St. Edward. It was stolen by the Scottish Nationalists on Christmas Eve of 1950, but was recovered and returned in February, 1952. The stone is also known as the Tanist Stone or Jacob's Stone. |

From Gorias (gor-ee-as) - from the east - they brought Lughs spear. Anyone who held it was invincible in battle. The Spear of Lugh had three tips like a trident and never missed its mark when hurled and always came back to the hand that threw it. |

| From Findias, (fi-dee-as) - south - they brought Nuadas (noo-a-ha) irresistable sword. No one could escape it once it was unsheathed. It was a weapon that only inflicted mortal blows when drawn. Being that it was a faery weapon, it was made of bronze. |
