<---Here we are in the hospital.  Nick was 4 hours old.  Me, I had an abcessed tooth, so mouth was swollen and painful.  But, still, it was a good day!  Little Brice is to my right in the picture, and Britney to my left.
Here Nick was 5 days old...what a cutie!!!  --->
My pregnancy with Nick was also an easy one, with very little discomforts.  I had the normal morning sickness, maybe threw up once or twice, had the heartburn, was tired a lot, had late pregnancy pelvic pain, and the overactive night time bladder.  But these, in my opinion are all minor complaints.  None of them were too severe.  I had to be seen at the Naval Hospital on base this time, they would not champus me out in town like I requested.  I was VERY upset about this, as I wanted to be able to go to the Birthing Center again.  But, I was resigned to make the best of a bad situation, so I behaved myself and went to the hospital for all my check ups.  I wish that I had some ultrasound pictures of Nick to add here, but the tech said they were out of the paper needed to give me a picture.  This was very upsetting because Brice was not able to attend the appointment with me, he had to work.
All the doctors told me to get to the hospital as quick as I could when I went into labor with Nick because they expected me to go fast, since my last was so fast. But, when we got to the hospital is when the nightmare began.  First off, they put us in a room with a broken bed and no tv for Brice to watch and for me to focus on.  They hooked me up to an IV (which I didn't need), which they had previously told me that they would not do unless it was medically indicated.  Then came the monitors, then came them making me stay flat on my back!  They would not let me move, or go to the bathroom.  I had severe back labor, as it turned out the baby was posterior (sunny side up).  The worst possible position to be in when birthing a posterior baby is on your back, and that is what they made me do.  I tell you, it was akin to Nazi torture!  It prolonged my labor, of that there is no doubt, which ended up being just over 6 hours long.  When it came time to push, they tried to make me lay down flat with my feet in stirrups (you'd think this was during the stone-age!).  I wouldn't do it, and insisted on being allowed to sit up in the semi-reclined position with Brice supporting my back.  Once they allowed this, the pushing stage didn't even last five minutes.  They had broken my water 3 hourse before Nick was born, so his was a "dry birth", which just added to the torture.   This hospital was so horrible, they basically ignored me the whole time I was in labor, we just stayed in that cold white room with a broken bed for so many hours alone.  I will never  again allow anyone or any hospital to treat me the way that they did there!  Anyway, it turned out to be a good day because at 8:45 am, my precious baby came into the world!!!  All 8 lbs. 14 oz., 20 inches of him!  Our postpartum experience there wasn't too bad, the important thing was they never took him away from me, and I was very much in love!
