Waiting and Watching

For years Ive waited and watched,

Hoping that my innermost desires would be heard.

Without uttering a word.

Waiting and watching for one stray glance

Acknowledging while praying still that I can sit quietly by,

Drawing no looks in my direction

Ive watched you suffer,

Aching to reach and comfort, but afraid to speak

Seeing in your eyes the haunted look,

Often mirrored in mine.

I know the look, I know the dream.

Waiting and watching it always seems.

Reaching out would expose the want down deep inside.

Would you accept or pity I cry?

Dare I hope or dare I dream,

Always waiting and watching it seems
